If that's all he had, then I'm surprised they removed any! If the original writer meant that he had 6 toes on each foot, and 6 fingers on each hand, it should be reworded. Perhaps using the term polydactyl. I'd do it myself, but I can't confirm that it's true.Snorgle 14:57, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

TV appearance trivia

I saw that someone added that he had appeared on the West Wing, and when I checked at IMDB, it appeared to be true, so I just added a bit more information.Snorgle 15:26, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Additional TV highlights.

I had just finished going through 3 seasons of Deadwood. I inserted a DVD and low and behold there he was in the second chapter titled "Sauce for the Goose" in Anthony Perkins hosting "Chillers" (1990 (I guess) TV series). McShane was Steven (Stephen) Castle a suave and down and out singer seemingly on his last legs. He meets up with a lonely housewife whose husband has a serious back problem and gives here no attention. Then 'head over heels' in awe of the Night Club crooner, she murders her husband and marries the singer. A Typical British 'who-dunnit' mysteries (but no chiller here). Should we mention Game of Thrones in the lead

I believe we should since it is the biggest thing he has done and what he is most known for. It does not matter if it was only one episode. He gained more fame from that role than anything he has ever done. I mean just search his name on Google and Youtube and you will se for yourself that Game of Thrones comes up. Glad you finally started a discussion, but you are so very wrong. He has had a career of over half a century, with over a hundred roles across both television and films, and that was all before that one television series. He was known worldwide for so much before it was even announced that he would make an appearance; I mean, just look at this version of the article, before he was announced for the role. One episode is most definitely not the biggest thing he has done, he has stared in so much more than what is basically a guest or cameo appearance. I find you extremely biased on the topic, what with your fanboy tendencies towards any article related to the series. Google results are based on your own search results, that's why when I search for Ian McShane, all I see is American Gods, meaning that Google and YouTube are most certainly not reliable sources. -- Alex^TW 10:20, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

By ratings, i'm talking about viewership and critic ratings. Also I don't know what him being active since 1962 has to do with any thing. He has gained the most mainstream success and notability from GoT, not from a cancelled HBO show or other stuff no one has heard of. He starred as the titular character in Lovejoy, and he also stars in American Gods which has a singular episode so of course he doesn't have nominations for it (seriously?). It is still a relatively minor role and not what he is best known for. The lead should mention only the most defining roles and what he is notable for.
