Conflict of interest edit

Ianfoster42, your user name suggests that you have a WP:COI. If that's correct, it means that you cannot edit this article yourself. The right course of action is to suggest edits to the article here (on the talk page) together with supporting sources. An uninvolved editor will then make changes to the article as appropriate. If you have questions, please ask. Here is good. Schwede66 20:10, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Schwede. I was adding notes of awards for colleagues and figured that as they are facts, not opinions, it would be ok to add myself as well. But I appreciate the policy now it is explained. I'll see if I can work out how to suggest in the talk page. Best wishes for the new year! Ianfoster42 (talk) 21:56, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your understanding, Ianfoster42. There isn't more to it than posting here, just as you've just done. The ideal way of suggesting changes is as such: Please change "What this sentence says currently." to "What I'd like the sentence to say instead.", plus a reliable secondary source that backs up the new information. But any variation of that will do. Sources don't have to be online or they might be behind a paywall; that's all good. But in that case, a fully formatted reference including page numbers would be appreciated. Schwede66 06:26, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Possible addition edit

I propose a change to the Wikipedia page at Ian Foster (computer scientist) as follows:

1) Please change:

"the IEEE Computer Society Harry H Goode Memorial Award (2020), the"

to

"the IEEE Computer Society Harry H. Goode Memorial Award (2020) and the IEEE Internet Award (2023), and the" Ianfoster42 (talk) 16:20, 28 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
These things do require a reference but I've had a look and found one, so I will add that. Schwede66 05:37, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
