The result of the move request was: No move. Unanimous consensus, supported by general titling policy, is against adding the parentheses for purposes other than disambiguation. Cúchullain t/c 13:19, 25 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

INS KochiINS Kochi (D64) – It is the prescribed naming standard for ships throughout Wikipedia. The format goes as follows: [National prefix] + [Name of the ship] + [Pennant number]. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talk • mail) 00:39, 18 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose, per WP:NCS#Naming articles about military ships "A typical military ship article name has the following form: <prefix> <italicized name> <(hull or pennant number or disambiguation)>[Note 1]" (bold mine). The note says "If there is only one ship of the name, it is wrong to disambiguate, per WP:PRECISE." © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 07:10, 19 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - note, I removed the hull number disambiguator for exactly the reason that Tbhotch identified. Hull/pennant numbers are not part of the ship's name, and only serve identification purposes (which for Wikipedia's purposes, the name is more than sufficient). • Oppose. Not where there's only one. Only for disambiguation. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:17, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. Disambiguation only. Llammakey (talk) 11:34, 24 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
