Title
editGiven the notice under the title warning against confusion, should the title be changed to reflect that this is about a ranking system?
- Is there any prize for topping it, as there is with the Test rankings?
- Does the title just follow the naming convention applied to the Test championship page?
- Does anyone ever refer to the Rankings as a Championship?

To answer my own question, it seems the ICC refer to both Rankings and Championship on their pages / press releases, though their main rankings page is titled Rankings and makes not mention of the Championship. E.g. this release says both Rankings and Championship: [1] but this says just rankings [2] Spike 'em (talk) 18:25, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
- Another 3 years, and the ICC has revamped this, still calling it a Rankings system[3]
Expansion
editMention needs to be made of the expansion, and if anyone can find an explanation of how the new ratings system works that would be good. It may be that the system is exactly the same, but I don't know how the top teams suddenly went from ~100 to ~250. Spike 'em (talk) 11:15, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
- As a case study: Before Eng v Pak:
- Pak 25 7154 286
- Eng 15 3917 261
After
- Pak 26 7365 283
- Eng 16 4253 266
- England gained 336 points (Pak rating + 50); Pak gained 211 (Eng rating -50). This is same as would have happened previously so it would seem the individual matches are treated the same in terms of calculations. Will wait to see if any difference in the difference used before switching modes. Spike 'em (talk) 10:09, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- Though this is only updated on cricinfo and not ICC website, so it may be that cricinfo are maintaining their own list using the old rules. Spike 'em (talk) 10:17, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Historical Rankings
editIs there any source for the Historical Rankings table, e.g. where is the proof England were top on 6 September 2020 with a rating of 273? JP (Talk) 12:51, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
