Infobox
editThe infobox is confusing HMSG/Hyundai Motorsport Gmbh with the WRC history of Hyundai. --Rally Wonk (talk) 15:44, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Scope
editWhat is the scope of this article?
- The topic of Hyundai in motorsport as intended when the article was created in 2011.
- The company Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, established 2012, as asserted in the opening sentence.
- The rallying team representing Hyundai as in the short description.
- Other?
Difficult to be able to contribute to it and it's potentially misinforming people in its current state. Rally Wonk (talk) 16:25, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
- Compare how many articles exist for Toyota, such as Toyota Gazoo Racing, Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT. Rally Wonk (talk) 16:38, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
- I can't find any evidence to say there was a Hyundai Motorsport 'division' pre-2012, even Hyundai.com say: "On 19th December 2012, we established our motorsport division - Hyundai Motorsport GmbH". A search on newspapers.com and google only really mentions a Canadian team that did some circuit racing about 1999 which is not mentioned here.
- I propose to split the content of this article to:
- Hyundai World Rally Team (name since 2000 where much of the Infobox and WRC season reports belong)
- Motor Sport Developments (independent company involved in 1998-2003 Hyundai motorsport activity)
- Hyundai Motorsport {company) (this article) for the 2012-onwards GmbH company, with content based on the commercial operation.
- As it is contradicting content and not such a formal split (ie. size), I'll proceed unless anybody has any reasonable objection. No other manufacturer has a motorsport history essay so I assume this article isn't trying to be one. Rally Wonk (talk) 20:39, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
