The term "snow flea" is also sometimes used for flightless scorpionflies in the family Boreidae; maybe a disambiguation page is needed? MrDarwin 16:35, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Behaviour edit

At the present state, the article claims the following : [collembola] can catapult themselves in a random direction by releasing two tail-like "spring" projections (furcula) located on abdomen segment IV.

"Random direction" may be a poor descriptor of this behaviour. Field studies have shown that the snow flea species observed were highly directional in their jumping behaviour and were also able to navigate by using the sun as a compass.

Based on this, I propose that the sentence which suggests that their jumping is directionally random is modified so that this is no longer the case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toremag (talkcontribs) 14:30, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sources edit

The whole article is not cited except for the content about antifreeze, which is itself debatable as to whether this is the right place for it. I'd give the benefit of the doubt to the accuracy of the information, except for the sentence starting with "It has been assumed..." that I tagged with {{fact}}, but it still needs a source.
