This seems to be a good article. But just a suggestion; will it be a good idea to move the list to a List of power stations in Burma ("Hydroelectric" section)? And rename this page to a more specific-to-the-content title like "Hydroelectricity in Burma"? Just a suggestion. Kind regards. Rehman(+) 00:48, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for thinking about this article and making a well considered suggestion. I see your point, but I started Dams in Burma to be about dams, including those for only irrigation. Hopefully the links and references in the list will stimulate others to do articles on the individual dam projects. I have recently completed Yeywa Dam and Myitsone Dam and am working on User:Marcus334/Sandbox#Weigyi_Dam and User:Marcus334/Myitsone_Dam#Tamanthi_Dam. I'm concerned about the negative human rights impacts these large new Chinese hydroelectric dams are/will have/ing on the indigenous Burmese people. I've spent a few days in northern Burma and was impressed with the warmth and friendliness of the people.
I've only done a little on the irrigation dams so far. It is not my intent to cover all power stations in Burma, though most of their power comes from gas turbine stations. I'll leave that to others and they can plug in my hydroelectric list.-Marcus334 (talk) 03:48, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hello Marcus. Thank you for the reply. I understand your point and have absolutely no problems with the way things currently are. After all, it was just a passer-by suggestion. Best regards. Rehman(+) 09:35, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Kataik Dam is a dam in Paung Township, Thaton District, Mon State, Burma. It was completed in 2007 and became the 198th dam in Burma and the 10th in Mon State, opening on May 1.[1]

Perhaps the number could be revised from 150.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 11:27, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I made some tweaks, although I can't see the references. I am sure they refer to large dams as it is nearly impossible to keep track of all dams in a country. Which, regardless of size, probably well exceed 200.--NortyNort (Holla) 15:41, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is there dams in sittaung river? Sushonletthadar (talk) 07:34, 12 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
