Granted, Wikipedia continues to get better, but much of it has been written by middle-school students. This article is in utter contrast to that.
Until recently, article(s) on the Hunnewells and their estates were your typical Wikipedia scattershot, inchoate snippets of facts, written by dilettantes. This article, or the latest state of it, exposes deep facts and dates to the public surely for the first time. And it does so comprehensively. In providing, say, the date and architect for one house, it gives them for them all. And when a fact is stated, if there's an ancillary or clarifying fact to be said as well, it is. The amateurs never do any of that.
As far as the English and rhetoric go, it's professional. By contrast, many Wikipedia writers are simians, incapable—literally—of writing an English sentence; or if they can, they write in non sequiturs.
I find Wikipedia's rating system a little clueless at times. Presently this article has a quality rating of "Start." What does that mean? That no authority has gotten around to rating it yet? Then say "Not Yet Rated." The implication is that until it's reviewed, we presume it's been written by a novice and it needs improvement. That is utterly specious; this article was written by one of only a handful of people in America this conversant with the subject. In any case, as Mark Twain said at the podium after just receiving an honorary degree from a prestigious university, "If I am not called at least 'Doc' from now on, there will be a decided coolness." If Wikipedia doesn't rate this article something approaching an "A", they too are arrant boneheads.
