50's Music?

There's an entry about a Jukebox and playing 50's music in Hungry Jack's stores, down the bottom of '2002 to the present day'. I have been in many of Melbourne's Hungry Jack's Stores and find this rather odd, as I have seen nor heard nothing of the sort. Is it a regional thing, does anyone know? Hungry Jack's move

Hello,

The user Michaelbeckham recently made a unilateral decision to excise a large section of the Burger King article, delete the redirect from Hungry Jack's to the BK page and place all about HJ information from the BK article on to the former redirect page. This edit was done without consulting any other editors and see if there was consensus about doing this. He also failed to properly note the move and the reasons for the move in the edit log and failed to correct any redirect errors that were created as a result of the move. I have reinstated the text and am asking that Michael please refrain from doing this again without first posting an appropriate discussion on this page about this type of move.

If you would like to move section to a new article, please take the following steps:

1. Tag the section with the {{splitsection}} template
2. Create the discussion on the proper talk page
3. Wait for consensus

While understand his reasoning for the move, from personal experience I know that an editor must follow the Wikipedia guidelines when making major changes to the structure of an existing article so that other contributors work can be properly credited, that the changes are done following accepted consensus and why doing something like this improperly can cause issues (like on the BK products section move in April of this year).

Consensus is fine in some cases, but there is enough material to move to its own article. It is notable and a separate entity. I am puzzled why its part of the BK article in the first place seeing as they have separate ownerships. - Mike Beckham 08:32, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

All of the international operations have separate ownership, because all international BK restaurants are a licensed franchisees of BKC. (In fact 90% of all BK restaurants are separately owned.) BK has sells the international expansion rights for its name and products to companies who in turn either own and operate or sub-license with in those regions. Another example similar to HJ is in the Middle East where a company called Hama Foods runs all the Burger Kings, except in Israel where BK is run by a company called Rikamor, Ltd. The reason it is listed separately is because Australia is the only place in the world where BK does business under a different name due to trademark issues. Each BK is given some leeway in running the company in regards to advertising and menu, but they are all BKs, even Hungry Jack's.

Hungry Jacks is different enough, has enough content and is notable enough for its own article. Not a section on this. I see no GOOD reason to not move it. Unless you can get a consensus against it, I think it is time for it be moved. - Mike Beckham 03:22, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

• Against - HJ is just BK, but under under a different name due to a trademark issue and some legal issues, each international location is its own company similar to HJ and is no different. -Jeremy (Jerem43 05:02, 3 October 2007 (UTC))
  • Grumble, gripe, bitch, groan - split the damn article. I looked at the size and it is at 49 KB and if I continue the citations, expansions and corrections I am planning, it will just get bigger. • Split, firstly it isn't "just BK". It has entirely different ownership in Australia. Burger King is owned Burger King Holdings Inc. HJ is owned by Hungry Jack's Pty. Ltd. It has nothing to do with franchises. HJ has rights to products and trademarks but is not owned by BK Holdings. Burger King existed in Australia but sold the stores to BK when exiting the country a few years ago. International variants are different to this situation as they owned by BK Holdings, HJ is a separate entity. - Mike Beckham 06:05, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
• Split I hate to disagree with you Jeremy because I consider you a Wikipedia friend but you should see this as a compliment to your work. You have shown that Hungry Jack's has it's own separate culture which has fed off from BK but it has gone in a different direction. As with many larger articles it is better to take another notable topic inside of t and let it grow and give a summary for it in the parent article. I would like to hear a lot more about Hungry Jack's eventually and perhaps having the second article would promote that. I honestly do not think that the topic should be expanded on here though, and should have a summary with a direct to a "main article." • Split I just looked up Hungry Jacks Wiki out of curiosity as I'd heard a whisper of the legal disputes between Burger King and Hungry Jacks and wanted to know why Burger Kings cropped up around Australia for a while then got renamed. I figured it was some kind of corporate wrangling or an experiment in marketting and this article gave me a concise answer while the Burger King article would've given me a lot of off topic talk. HJ/BK in Australia

Remove the statement "All Australian outlets are now under the Hungry Jack's name." This may have been the case for a long time, but sadly, Burger King branded outlets have started appearing in recent years. There are several in Melbourne's CBD alone. The naming of franchises in Australia has been mentioned in the article. Does anyone else think it would be worthwhile mentioning details as to what areas were labelled with which name, and when they changed? That is, if we can source the info? -- Chuq 02:18, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Most shops in Australia were Hungry Jacks until recently. How recently? Wouldn't know. I haven't seen any that have changed unless they've been renovated which isn't many in my area, except for new shops. I think some were actually changed back to HJ. Can anyone else confirm this? I'm in Melbourne and i'm farely certain all the Burger Kings that suddenly appeared have since been reverted to Hungary Jack's. I remember hearing somewhere that they'd baught them out, also the adds for Burger King have completely dissapeared.

Most burger kings in Australia were bought by hungry jacks about 2 years ago. The burger kings only lasted about 2 years. In sydney all of them are hungry jacks now....

Have significantly rewritten this section of the article adding approrpiate legal case citations and other relevant material. Will continue to watch and improve this section. thewinchester 13:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Hungry Jack's separate chain?

Hungry's?

Is there any proof online that Hungry Jack's is often referred to as Hungry's? I've never met anyone who has called it that, unless it's a regional nickname in some cities or states? "Scungie Scraps" doesn't get a mention, but it's certainly a wide-spread, commonly used term. I'm not going to revert anything, but I think it would be wise to show a bit of proof that "Hungry's" is a commonly used term. -- Smacca | Talk 05:25, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Pay Dispute

I would like to get a yes or no vote on adding the Pay Dispute to the article, one of the editors removed the edit I added under good faith, but should it be returned?

I Bill Mulcahy of Panton Hill Victoria wrote the slogan “the Burgers are better at Hungry Jacks”. About 17 years ago they (Hungry Jacks) ran a competition to compose a slogan. My wife and I were having a meal at the Plenty Rd. Bundoora franchise and there was a book of entry cards at the counter, as we ate we were filling out the forms with various slogans and our contact details and placed them in a box on the counter. About 3 weeks later we were holidaying in Mildura when I got a call on my mobile to say that I had won with the slogan “the Burgers are better at Hungry Jacks” and could I give them a time to pick up the prize of a television from the Plenty Rd. store as there would have to be a photographer there and I would have to sign a waiver form. I arranged to be at the store at 5pm the following Sunday and drove from Mildura to be there. The TV was presented at the counter and a photo was taken with me shaking the managers hand, I signed the waiver and the TV was used until it was put out in the hard rubbish a couple of years ago when we brought a new digital one. A couple of weeks later (after receiving the TV) my brother-in law rang to say that there was a photo of me on the notice board in the store. I hadn’t thought about it until about 6 months ago when the guys at work were having Hungry Jacks for lunch and I saw the slogan on the bag and I said “see that slogan, I wrote that” well they didn’t believe me and thought that I was a bull artist. Unlimited refills

There is a refill "buffet" at Hungry Jacks. It's what makes Hungry Jack's unique. It's something Maccas doesn't have. Everything else is basically the same. It needs to be on here 182.255.99.214 (talk) 11:10, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
