I've just flagged it for importance as opposed to deletion. The book doesn't really address the subject matter in any way that would be deemed important for wikipedia. This article should be deleted as it's advertising spam or the article is of a non-neutral POV or reworded. It was flagged since june anyway for wikifying. The book which purports to focus on Human Rights in Islam, I understand is simply a 40 page listing from a talk. The publication date seems to be 1976 (Name: Human Rights in Islam, A short exposition of the value and concept of human rights in Islam as noted in the Qur’an and Sunnah ISBN: 0-95039-549-8 Publisher: The Islamic Foundation Pages: 40 Publication Year: 1976). The book thus probably simply needs to have a link from the author's web page, or reword the article into a NPOV i.e. provide both sides of what the book contains in the form of a review presenting both for and against. The book itself is biased towards Islamic thinking and glosses over significant western advances with respect to human rights. This is especially topical given such European Court of Human Rights (First Section), rulings that it was difficult to declare one's respect for democracy and human rights while at the same time supporting a regime based on sharia.. ..." As regards the relationship between democracy and sharia, the Court reiterates that in Refah Partisi (the Welfare Party) and Others v. Turkey ([GC], nos. 41340/98, 41342/98, 41343/98 and 41344/98, § 123, ECHR 2003-II) it noted, among other things, that it was difficult to declare one's respect for democracy and human rights while at the same time supporting a regime based on sharia. It considered that sharia, which faithfully reflected the dogmas and divine rules laid down by religion, was stable and invariable and clearly diverged from Convention values, particularly with regard to its criminal law and criminal procedure, its rules on the legal status of women and the way it intervened in all spheres of private and public life in accordance with religious precepts. Someone must have something more to add on this as opposed to just me. NPOV for subjective topics like this mean a balanced argument. Ttiotsw 23:42, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

The article does not actually say when the book was written (surely very important). It would also be helpful to have the authors birthdate (and when they died, if they have that is) & nationality. Surely this must be a basic Wiki standard? - Stephen Howe

Extra references needed

The article is practically unreferenced. Of two external links presented, one is the book's page, the other is an Islamic site that seems to be both a media portal and a pay-per-view E-library (i.e. hardly a reliable secondary source). And none of the links is referenced from the text itself. Going to add referencing tag as well. --Futurano 18:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
