I have some questions:
1. If a gallery/museum/non-profit exhibition space is judged by the success/criticism of the exhibitions it presents, how does a favorable review of exhibitions at a space (in multiple reputable magazines) not substantiate the notability of the exhibition space?
2. If I cite a person/band/whatever (e.g. Dynasty Handbag) that this space presented as being booked/presented at a highly notable location (e.g. Brooklyn Academy of Music), and Dynasty Handbag isn't on Wikipedia so I can't validate the venue (Human Resources) by the prestige/notability of the performer within the closed-circuit of Wikipedia itself, then why isn't it effective to cite an external source? Wouldn't it make more sense for an editor to look into what BAM is, what their program is, and the bio/accomplishments of Dynasty Handbag to see if you that is something that should be included within Wikipedia? That was my intention -- to lead other editors/contributors to a stub that could be expanded upon. I guess I should just go and make a Wikipedia article on Dynasty Handbag and then inter-link it? Both actions seem to be equally viable; I don't understand your zeal about speedy deletion. Cosmicphantom (talk) 06:05, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
- For number 1, you've provided zero sources that discuss this gallery that aren't in the Los Angeles area. Usually for this type of place, notability means that it's been noticed by at least an entire state, and preferably the whole world (like the Louvre). Art newspapers and magazines will review any art gallery, so it doesn't really say much about notability that there's a review.
- For number 2, articles need good sources. That means sources that are actually about the topic. In this cases, sources that are about the gallery. Sources are about backing up the information in the article, and not just to be interesting. I removed three sources from the article, since they weren't about this gallery, and one of them didn't even mention it. If you claim that a certain artists appeared in the gallery in the article, the attached source needs to actually say that, if it doesn't, we can tag it as {{failed verification}} if the source still provides useful information about the subject, but if it doesn't say anything about the subject, it doesn't belong there. The Dynasty Handbag source was removed since it didn't say that it was ever at Human Resources, nor did it say anything about Human Resources, so it is of no value to this article.
- Notability is not inherited. Just because the Brooklyn Academy of Music is notable, doesn't make Dynasty Handbag notable for being performed there, and that doesn't make Human Resources notable for being performed there either.
- I have no zeal about speedy deletion, and I have not nominated this article for speedy deletion, I instead nominated it for proposed deletion (prod), where it is nominated for 7 days and deleted if no one objects. Since you objected, it can not be prodded again.
- To conclude, I'm not convinced that this place meets our notability standards. I would bet that I could find a place similar to this in any city with a population over 100,000, and many smaller cities as well. The question is, what would make someone outside of Los Angeles care about this? That's the question you need to answer, and to back with reliable sources that are mostly about Human Resources.
