Wrong name? edit

This website refers to two separate people as Hamish Howitt and Hugh Howitt and also claims the name was changed from Hamish Howitt to Hamish Guy Fawkes Howitt. Hugh and Hamish are also listed as two separate people at the electoral commission. The key source for the article has a broken link so it cannot provide any verification. I will see what I can find from other sources. Road Wizard (talk) 21:16, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have tried doing a little more research but it looks like at least one journalist hasn't got their facts straight (but it isn't completely clear which one). This article currently states that a man named Hamish changed his name to Hugh Guy Fawkes Howitt. In support of that we have the BBC claiming that he is "Hugh Howitt known as Hamish",[1] but the Morning Advertiser disagrees by claiming Hamish "changed his name by deed poll to Hamish Guy Fawkes Howitt".[2] After much searching, the world of blogging came to the rescue with a claim that Hugh is Hamish's son.[3] Though the blog isn't a reliable source it does add weight to the Electoral Commission source.
I think this article needs to be moved to Hamish Howitt, which is currently a redirect. Road Wizard (talk) 21:51, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
After further work it appears that both father and son are both called Hugh, though the father goes by the name Hamish.[4] Road Wizard (talk) 22:43, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Happy Scots Bar and Delboys and Crazy Scots Bar edit

hi. I'm getting confused by the different pubs. Happy Scots Bar == Crazy Scots Bar, yes? But Delboy's is different, but nextdoor? My understanding was that only one pub broke the smoking ban. Was this the HSB or Delboys? Robinh (talk) 12:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Candidate for Deletion edit

I have listed this article as a candidate for deletion. I do not feel Hamish is sufficiently well-known or notable to warrant an encyclopedic article and he is not a nationally well-known or significant figure which does not satisfy Wikipedia Notability Guidelines. Therefore I have listed it for deletion. Please be aware this is not in any prejudice to Mr Howitt. I am simply following WP guidelines. Thank You and please feel free to comment on this issue within 7 days. Christian1985 (talk) 12:20, 9 October 2010 (UTC) I have relisted this article for speedy deletion. Hamish is just a 'real person', he is not of any national or even local significance to warrant a WP article. I move that it be removed, thank you. The references do not indicate importance. Hamish Howitt is just some pub landlord with a campaign. He is not an important person and the references do not prove anything, I will be referring this to the Administrators as I feel this article should be deleted.
