Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study

edit

This article seems to be about the Ecosystem portion of HBEF. The HBEF was established to study the relationship between forestry and the hydrologic cycle, and water quality. The Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study started shortly after the establishment of the experimental forest. KAM 13:50, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

federal research forest network

edit

All this material has been added to the story, but it doesn't seem relevant. Creating an article about the network might be more reasonable:

In 1934, the [[Fernow Experimental Forest]] was established in [[West Virginia]] and the Coweeta Experimental Forest in [[North Carolina]]. The latter had its name officially changed in 1948 to [[Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory]].<ref>http://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/cfwr/forests/coweeta.html</ref><ref>https://foresthistory.org/research-explore/us-forest-service-history/places/research-sites/coweeta-hydrologic-laboratory/</ref><ref>http://www.srs.fs.usda.gov/compass/2013/01/10/experimental-forest-the-coweeta-hydrologic-laboratory/ </ref> The [[USFS]] H.J.Andrews Experimental Forest, [[Andrews Forest]] was established in 1948. It encompasses the entire Lookout Creek watershed within [[Willamette National Forest]] in the Oregon Cascade Range <ref>https://andrewsforest.oregonstate.edu/</ref>. This is a very long-term watershed research forest. [[Raphael Zon]], member of the first graduating class of the [[New York State College of Forestry at Cornell]] (in 1901), was a key advocate of the process that led to the organization of the first Federal Forest Experiment Stations and the [[Forest Products Laboratory]] under the Branch of Research, which was formed in 1915.<ref>http://www.fsl.orst.edu/geowater/PEP/afsc/miller/</ref><ref>http://www.fs.fed.us/rm/pubs/rmrs_p053/rmrs_p053_363_370.pdf</ref><ref>https://foresthistory.org/december-1-1874-a-red-star-is-born/</ref> In 1912 Zon presented his report, "Forests and Water in the light of Scientific Investigation", to the US Congress and the public.<ref>Reprinted with revised Bibliography, 1927, from Appendix V of the Final Report of the National Waterways Commission, 1912.
