The Game Changer edit

Hi YCplaer,

My edits were deleted twice by you.

My first edit was deleted stating that twitter was used as the source but it wasn't the original Chinese source from Entertainment news site was included the twitter reference is only for English translation since it's an english page and I think translation should be provided when available, either way my edit was good because it was properly referenced with the original article. Gao Xixi did direct the New Shanghai Bund in 2007 and The Game Changer inspiration is The bund/New Shanghai Bund.

Now 2nd time again all my reference were deleted including one from the English film news website screendaily that confirm the movie production and I can't understand why since its a valid source.

Can you explain? TaoWoAini (talk) 16:34, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Please don't insert material like this. The note is trivial (purely fan material), as is the sourcing. In general, please see WP:RS. Thank you, Drmies (talk) 16:54, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Noted Drmies,I wasn't the one who added it first it was editor Ycplaer with whom I have a dispute and I didn't want to delete their edit until I'm sure I had a right to,since that person is deleting my edits and I didn't want to appear hostile by doing the same. I'm new and still learning.TaoWoAini (talk) 19:36, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tao is a Martial Artist edit

Hi Ycplaer, Orzijunmyeon

You recently changed martial artist to martial artist tricking performer and occupation as martial artist tricking. However this edit is incorrect;

Martial artist tricking is commonly referred to as tricking putting martial artist tricking creates confusion and didn't link properly in the occupation template. The correct term would have been tricker or trickster

However describing Tao has a tricker or trickster, who practices Tricking is not correct

See definition for Tricking

Martial arts tricking, known simply as tricking, is a training discipline that combines martial arts kicks with flips and twists from gymnastics as well as many dance moves and styles from break dancing. Trickers sometimes come from martial artist background but the majority are self thought. Doesn't have formal rule or regulation. Usually doesn't include weapons, see video citation that shows what is tricking[1]

Wushu Taolu

Tao has performed what may be mistaken as tricking as part of his musical performances, but what he demonstrated were Wushu Taolu routines with swords and baton and forms that respect Wushu principles, see examples of Wushu Taolu [2]and compare with Tao[3][4] see the official description in the video for Tao's performance Tao displaying his well trained martial arts skill. see the type of performance Tao performs on stage [5] during concert [6] his demonstrations on Tv shows are described as Wushu demonstrations.[7]

There is a very clear and obvious distinction between tricking performances and Tao's Wushu Taolu demonstrations. Tao doesn't use any breakdancing or gymnastic moves, uses traditional weapons and follows the forms and norms of Wushu Taolu.

Tao has received formal training in Wushu since the age of 5[8], has participated and won competitions his future endeavors is the promotion of martial arts in China see strait times interview and Tao's mention about promoting martial arts in China like Jackie Chan[9]

Michelle Yeoh, a well known and knowledgeable martial arts actress complimented Tao on her blog for his Wushu skill and wished for Tao to successfully pass down Chinese martial arts to the next generations [10] [11]

He his widely recognized as a martial artist and during his time in Korea he continued training with Bruce Khan as his master, who is a well known martial artist.[12] who wants to maintain realistic form in martial arts and discourages, flying kicks and acrobatics in martial arts [13]

Tao's has been casted in martial arts movies based on this Like Railroad Tigers, [14] Jackie Chan's upcoming movie where they fought together and Tao did his own stunts and Gao Xixi's Game Challenger[15][16] said Tao was chosen because he watched videos of Tao doing Wushu.

Same for his game endorsements Almighty team they made 2 characters after him that had is wushu as superpower[17] and I'm Sovereign, it's all about Tao's image as a martial arts fighter.[18]

See definition for Martial arts

Martial arts are codified systems and traditions of combat practices, which are practiced for a variety of reasons: as self-defense, military and law enforcement applications; as competition, physical fitness, mental and spiritual development; as well as entertainment and the preservation of a nation's intangible cultural heritage.

Z.Tao recognizes himself as a Wushu martial artist. His peers and entertainment industry recognizes him as a Wushu martial artist. His martial arts performances are recognized as being Wushu by audiences, media, TV/Movie industry, Gaming Industry

He's equally notorious for this as being a musician. This discussion almost turned into it's own article because of the overwhelming evidence and data about Tao being a Wushu martial artist. I should probably put this on the article itself. This illustrate how much Martial artist tricking performer is both a 'misnomer and misleading'.

Bold Edit edit

Hi

I made big changes to the page,

First this edit, [1]

There was a 'lot' of link spam from that edit [2]

Example:Every mention of a song or album was followed with citations containing links for music videos, chinese music streaming sites, itunes store links etc... There were also links to fan channels that I'm not sure are authorized or videos from unofficial source that may violate copyright, I either deleted them or replaced them with appropriate official video from the copyright holders (mostly for the TV shows and Tao's official Youtube Channel) based on WP:CITEVIDEO (although I think I need to review the templates to make sure they are compliant will do later) or I replaced them with written citations from news sources where needed replaced Chinese source for English ones when I could.

When I finished and compared the page with the version before the link spam I also noticed that some paragraph or sentences were deleted without explanations like the one about Tao's first role in You're my sunshine, The Law of the Jungle, so I wrote them and I'm adding some missing details throughout the page like for the endorsements, to make the page a good article like the articles listed in the music section of Wikipedia:Good articles/Music and less like a list. Like for example : Ne-Yo or Mike Shinoda — Preceding unsigned comment added by TaoWoAini (talkcontribs) 05:16, 22 March 2016 (UTC) TaoWoAini (talk) 05:18, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Regarding external link spamming, page blanking, etc... edit

Hi,12r003hun,Ycplaer,Orzijunmyeon,

Chinese streaming sites that require registration, Chinese MV's etc,..: WP:NONENGEL

Fancams, Video links: like those for injuries, music videos, itunes etc...excessive videos WP:LINKFARM WP:CITESPAM

Deleting paragraphs, sentences, citations: ex You are my sunshine, Victoria Song,

The paragraph about Tao's 1st movie role in You are my sunshine, and it's citations were deleted. Instead was replaced by an edit about a guest appearance on a variety show with Heechul . It already in the table of shows Tao appeared in. Why?

If it's okay to mention Heechul why it's not okay to mention Yang-mi or Victoria?

An own discography page edit

So, I've been wondering for a while if we should create an own page for Tao's discography and now seems to be an appropriate time. Obviously, now that he's a solo singer we can expect a lot more music to come from him like singles and albums and I just thought that it wouldn't be such a bad idea to create the page now when we don't have to add too much stuff at once, and to then slowly let it grow.

Would that be acceptable?

CaPoRt (talk) 13:39, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

No, it's too soon for a page split. His solo discography is still small. Random86 (talk) 20:12, 23 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reality Star edit

Tao is not a reality star, he did not get famous through reality TV. His main occupation is actor and singer/songwriter and martial artist. He occasionally guests on Asian Variety Shows. that does not make him a reality star.

This is the definition of a reality star:

A reality TV star is an individual who has achieved public recognition primarily through his or her appearance on a reality show. Unlike “celeb-reality” stars such as Flavor Flav, Bret Michaels and Corey Feldman, who were famous prior to their appearances on reality TV, the term “reality TV star” typically refers to a person who was not a public figure prior to his or her stint on a reality show.

Calling him a reality star is inaccurate and misleading. Oceanic Wave (talk) 04:14, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Full of fluff edit

This article is filled with irrelevant info, promotional info and too much unimportant detail that goes against Wikipedia rules. This is not the artist's own personal fanpage. I have removed all the fluff from the article. If you feel this might be in error, discuss before trying to add the removed parts again. SunshineLily (talk) 15:29, 1 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sunshine Lily, Bold Editing edit

Hi SunshineLily !

I received a notification that this file that I created was not in use Audio file : I'm the Sovereign.Ogg

This made me to review Huang Zitao's page and it's history, I see that you made bold edits to the page, The reason given for your bold edits (which included this audio file) is that the things removed were fluff and treating the page as a fan site.

However the use of audio files is authorized on singer-songwriter's pages as per wikipedia's guidelines, this file as also been reviewed by senior editors and admins before and it's length was modified to respect the audio file guidelines and the non free content use rationale was accepted for it's usage on the page. Audio files are commonly used on singer songwriter's pages, it has encyclopedic value to demonstrate their craft, see example G-Dragon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-Dragon or Britney Spears: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britney_Spears which both received wikipedia's good article recommendation. WP:GOOD

Your removal of the music file has been disputed by another editor, and reverted, however you again removed the file and you added this summary (Refrain from undoing changes. Endorsement info is pure fluff that will only interest fans. This is not a fan site.) https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Huang_Zitao&diff=778170784&oldid=777975073

When in fact what you removed was the audio file and the properly sourced quotes from Huang Ztiao about his music artistry. (Please also note that those quotes follow wikipedia's guidelines. Refer again to G-Dragon and Britney Spears page which also contains both quote about their music artistry and audio files .

You deleted the entire musical style and artistry section, which is encyclopedic and properly sourced, under a false summary.

This prompted me to review the rest of your edits.

Wikipedia encourages bold edits please refer to WP:BOLD However there is a protocol to be followed and a diplomacy to be used to maintain a cooperative state amongst all editors. Once you made your changes and other editors contested, before reverting to your version, you should have opened a discussion on the talk page.

You didn't do that instead you made your changes again, and added on the talk page. Full of fluff[edit source] This article is filled with irrelevant info, promotional info and too much unimportant detail that goes against Wikipedia rules. This is not the artist's own personal fan page. I have removed all the fluff from the article. If you feel this might be in error, discuss before trying to add the removed parts again. SunshineLily (talk) 15:29, 1 May 2017 (UTC) Please refer to WP:BRD-NOT Your current behaviour does not fall under bold editing, now what you are doing can be considered Edit Warring

The entire section about music style and artistry, was deleted under the reason that it was fluff Huang Zitao is a singer song-writer, this is very relevant content and important content, the singer songwriter's page contain this section or something similar, again refer to Britney Spears page and G-Dragons pages given as example above. It is encyclopedic content.

Same thing for the endorsements section , see again Britney Spears page as example or another Chinese artist Luhan : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luhan_(entertainer)

Therefore I find that I cannot agree with your reasoning, that everything that was removed is fluff or the page is treated as a fan site.

The Huang Zitao page has been reviewed a few times previously by administrators and senior editors and superfluous content was purged and the current page reflect those changes.

The blanking of sections, the false edit summaries, your vocabulary, raised red flags for me so I reverted with summary RVV, reverting vandalism

However looking at your history, you seem to be new, so those edits may be done in good faith. You may not be full aware of guidelines therefore unknowingly engaging in behaviour that can be suspected of vandalism,Edit Warring or Tendentious editing

As per the Bold edit guideline before making your changes again please discuss point by point first since it has been contested. Oceanic Wave (talk) 00:18, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Other names edit

Hello! Tao is referred to as ZTAO on other pages (Wiz Khalifa discography Rewind (Zhou Mi EP)). Should ZTAO be added to other names or should it be changed on other pages to Tao or Z.Tao? I'd suggest Tao for songs he featured on while in Exo and Z.Tao for songs after he left. Looncalls (talk) 16:11, 7 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I think it should be changed to Z.Tao on other pages to keep things consistent. I agree that Tao should be kept for songs he featured on while in Exo and Z.Tao for songs after he left. Oceanic Wave (talk) 01:57, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
