I believe that in relation to Welsh princely houses and the landholdings in Powys this article is important because it explains how the lordship of powys/powis left the ruling "ap Gwenwynwyn" family and came to be held first by the Cherleton and later by the Grey families. The Grey family were important in Powys history because they effectively terminated any "native" opposition (Sir Gruffydd Vychan, heir to the original Guortheyrnion dynasty was executed on their orders). - WoW! Don't delete! Glad I stumbled upon this! I am certin that Historian Dr. John Davies mentions Hawise in his Hostory of Wales, in connection to Powys passing from the Mathrafal line, dispite male claimants (who were givin land in England). When I am home I will look it up. In my reseach so far, the male line of Mathrafal became Gwenwynwyn then de la Pole, moved to York, then became cheif financiers to the English monarchy, eventually to become Dukes of Suffolk until the mid-15th century, when they forfited their claim there.
