Origins of the family edit

I have never seen any citation stating that the family was of French descent - the footnote on this page is not to a source. The earliest histories of the family state that they were Scandinavian and related to the Duke of Normandy (a story nobody contested at the time including the Duke of Normandy); as the author notes Orderic Vitalis (11th century) states this. If there is a historical reference that states otherwise it must be in this article if the claim is to be made as fact - there are no such references in this article. At the very least this article should be marked as questionable and should probably be withdrawn altogether as the few citations support only marginal information about the family - clearly no research was done. If it is possible I can submit actual historically supported information about the origins of the family. Even the circumstantial evidence points to a kinship with the Dukes of Normandy considering that every Archbishop of Rouen named by the Duke was related - except this one apparently. I am not sure what steps need to be taken to correct this poorly researched article. Certainly, I can write a better one considering it is my family's history and I know it well. Since I do have a MA in History I also understand the need for citations that actually mean something to the substance of a paper so I would include proper citations to support my conclusions. Indeed, they were not of French descent, but for some reason many Wikipedian want to spread the fallacious and revisionist idea that the Normans were mostly just French, Flemish and Breton rather than Scandinavian-French which is not only more likely but actually provable with linguistic, toponymic and documented evidence. 86.184.4.121 (talk) 11:07, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Genealogy of the Tosny Family, seigneurs of Tosny and Conches. edit

The page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Tosny that seems to have been authored some considerable time ago has been overtaken by modern scholarship. I would point you in the direction of: [1] The Genealogy section of the Wikipedia page needs to be edited in the light of Dr Moore's thesis. Cushnieent (talk) 23:21, 30 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
