broad wikilinks
editMost of those listed are "redlinked" but I think it can be fixed by minimizing the links. There are articles on a few of those listed but the name of the articles do not include the "Sheik". If the "Sheik" is removed from the brackets, at least a few of the links will "turn blue." I would do it, but I don't have the patience right now to go through all of them manually. Shiekh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani??
editThe page lists Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani as Emir, but it seems that he died before becoming Emir... or, if he was Emir, then the page about him is incorrect, as it lists his son Khalifa as being the fifth rather than sixth Emir... I don't know which is correct, but it would be nice if somebody knowledgeable could sort this out. --Smári McCarthy (talk) 09:56, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Removed unrelated political content
editThe paragraph does not fit under the "Family Tree" section, which is intended to cover genealogical information. This section should focus on the lineage, relationships, and history of the House of Thani members. Also, the claim that "many" citizens protested against the government is not substantiated by the reference provided, which only mentions "small-scale demonstrations led by members of the semi-nomadic Al Murra." This exaggeration is misleading and violates Wikipedia’s verifiability policy. The statement that Qatari royals have supported terror groups is also editorial and biased. The mention of Hamas is particularly contentious as it is not universally designated as a terrorist organsation. For example, the United Nations and many other states do not classify Hamas as a terrorist group. Wikipedia should maintain neutrality and avoid taking sides on such issues. Lastly, the section includes politically charged statements without providing balanced perspectives or comprehensive context.
If deemed necessary, create a separate "Controversies" section where such information can be presented in a balanced and contextually appropriate manner, and which adheres to Wikipedia's verifiability and neutrality standards. Catofminerva (talk) 15:29, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

- I agree that it was both poorly incorporated into the article and exaggerated. I think if it were to be readded, it should be amended so that undue weight isn’t given to certain events (i.e. the protests), and that it conforms to Wikipedia’s neutrality rule regarding Hamas. For instance: discussing the law that sparked the protests and dissent, rather than the protests themselves, which were small in size, and clarifying that Hamas is not designated as a terrorist organization by the majority of countries outside of Europe and North America.
