Electric hop up edit

I have never seen or heard about the electric hop--up system mentioned in the article in my 12 years of airsoft.... isn't it a confusion with AEG and other electric guns ?

"High Operation Power Up" edit

I have never heard a hop up referred to as "High Operation Power Up" as is described in the article. Can anyone verify that? --91.13.13.71 (talk) 12:34, 19 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I saw that, too, and I'm almost certain its incorrect (or rather, possibly a "backronym", invented after the fact). To "hop-up" something, or to be "hopped-up", long predates the invention of these kinds of systems; also, the first system I'm aware of (which was basically a bent paintball barrel, the...darn, I can't recall the name, but it was a very popular Tippman add-on) was commonly referred to as a "hop-up". So, yeah, bogus acronym. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.235.56.24 (talk) 09:57, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Magnus Effect edit

Does the section need to be called "Magnus Effect" then start with the sentence "Magnus effect."? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.160.140.72 (talk) 01:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

There was some additional material that was a casualty of vandalism/vandalism removal. Both the format, and the weird sentence structure, have been fixed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abramul (talkcontribs) 00:57, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hop-Up vs. Rifling edit

I'm removing the statement "Hop-up acts somewhat like the rifling on the barrel of a firearm,[2] but without the increase in horizontal accuracy." Imparting a spin about the horizontal axis perpendicular to travel is only marginally like rifling in the that there is a gyroscopic effect and some increased stability. However, this stability IS in the horizontal plane. It is in the vertical plane where no accuracy is gained. Also, there appears to be no reference to "Hop-Up" or "rifling" in the on-line searchable version of the cited reference (http://books.google.com/books?id=G5ZvC5huZNEC&pg=PA18#v=snippet&q=rifling&f=false viewed 03DEC2013). — Preceding unsigned comment added by BeadleB (talkcontribs) 19:36, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
