English name? edit

Ok, so we know that this company will be called 香港鐵路公司 in Chinese, but is it really going to be called "Hong Kong Railway Corporation" in English? Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 14:11, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

If the press were right, the Chinese name is as above, but the system retains its name of MTR, and the corporation would be called MTR Corporation in English.--Alasdair 09:44, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I do not think that merging is a good thing to do in this case because the MTR still has its historical value of being the predecessor of the new railway corporation. Topics like "network" or "future development" can be moved to this new article while information about the history of MTR remain in the MTR article. And yes, the new corporation would still be called MTR Corporation in English. So I would rather suggest renaming the current MTR article to something like "MTR (pre-2007)" or "MTR (pre-merger)", and rename this article to MTR. --:Raphaelmak: [talk] [contribs] 13:14, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
And one more thing: merge template on MTR article points to Hong Kong Railway Corporation (this article), but merge template on this article points to MTR Corporation, which is not the same article as MTR. (There are no merge templates on MTR Corporation.) I am not sure which articles does the one who made the suggestion wish to merge. --:Raphaelmak: [talk] [contribs] 13:21, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

In response to HongQiGong, i read it in The Standard and SCMP Toyotaboy95 (Talk - Contribs) 20:47, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think the article is not adequately referenced. So please help. BTW, I don't support any merge between the original MTR Corp and this article. The renaming proposal by the above editor sound good. Chris! ct 00:53, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
According to MTRC#Proposed_MTRCL-KCRC_merger and the MTR website, the English name of the company will be retained as MTR Corporation. AdeKaka' 09:43, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've put a "citation needed" tag on that claim.[1] Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 14:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
We still don't know the english name until DEC 2...im watching the TVB KCR+MTR thing tonight at 11:30, maybe I'll know then Toyotaboy95 (Talk - Contribs) 13:22, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have given the claim of English name in MTR Corporation an official source link. This article is simply a joke and urges to be deleted. Load of trivia things including the air pollution and the uniform. (The uniform is even joked by the MTR staffs for its poor quality, though I learn it from unofficial forum). -- Sameboat - 同舟 06:37, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just received the merger commeration ticket. It stated that the company name will retained as MTRC. AdeKaka' 21:13, 16 November 2007 (UTC+8)

Air pollution from MTR trains? edit

Nice work you finally get the source. But what's the point to put it in the article? Did the government use such statistic or the reason to encourage the merger? I'm afraid not, not even The Conservancy Association. -- Sameboat - 同舟 06:43, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's just like a little trivia. -- Toyotaboy95 01:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

MTR-KCR merge edit

I've started a discussion on the MTR-KCR merge at WPHK (so we can have one consolidated discussion about it instead of having the same discussion across the few relevant articles). [2]. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:17, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
