"de Honfleur"?

Why is it "ecole de Honfleur" and not "ecole d'Honfleur?" Is this an irregular formation? 76.99.86.148 (talk) 01:17, 1 April 2008 (UTC)essex9999

Both can be said, but only "de Honfleur" is correct, because the H is "aspirated", like in honte "shame", la honte, mourir de honte. In addition the H was traditionally pronounced [x].Nortmannus (talk) 21:31, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
