On "Ants! Nature's Secret Power", Discovery Science, Directtv#284, I do think that I'd heard that humans & ants {regarding aphids} are the two species most likely to keep domesticated herds.

What is the point of it?

I don't understand. The aphid pierces the plant, sucks out sap, and immediately exudes all of the sugary liquid out its other side? Does it go back and try digesting it later? Does it share it with other aphids? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.73.70.113 (talk) 03:03, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Secretion or excretion?

If it's coming out of "the gut's terminal opening" in response to food coming in the initial opening, this would appear to be excretion, not secretion. — SMcCandlish   Talk⇒〈°⌊°〉 Contribs. 08:04, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
