Does anyone know what Homer is refering to when he mentions "that freezer lady in Georgia?"BigBadUglyBugFacedBabyEatingO'Brian 01:48, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

66.75.161.29 It's worth pointing out that James Joyce appears among the 'Drunken Irish Novelists Of Springfield' float during the parade.

Why do we need this, who cares? People who write things like this are like the Comic Book Guy--172.214.91.173 20:29, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Potent Quotables

edit

This is one of the most quotable episodes of the Simpsons EVER. Many are preserved on this page. To that end though, a great one, if memory serves, is missing. Doesn't Homer explain that "[he's] not a criminal, [he's] a patriot, like all those people [pause] in jail?". Could someone look that up? Non Curat Lex 08:16, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good Article Status

edit

I read the article and have decided that it is nearly a good article; there are still a few errors that need sorting out. The article's good qualities include coherent style, abundant references and the fact that someone who knows practically nothing about the Simpsons could get through it without question. However, there are a few grammatical mistakes, mostly in the first two paragraphs, most densely in the first. I'm a bit short of time at the moment, so if someone else would kindly reread those paragraphs and fix the mistakes, that would be wonderful. I'd be happy pass this article, then.--Dark Green 22:13, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've given it a look and made a few changes. If there are still any remaining that I have missed, someone else will hopefully spot them. Thanks for the review! Gran2 22:24, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Perfect! I've given it a few minor tweaks and now it's definately worth of good article status. :) --Dark Green 20:46, 13 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Controversy?

edit

Wasn't there some controversy over the John Bull chip shop being blown up in this episode? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.189.125.98 (talk) 18:52, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes there was, the scene was deleted from UK showings of the show, since Americans laughing about the IRA blowing up british civilians including babies is a little rich after 9-11 and all that's happened since. I edited the article to make reference to this scene, but it was deleted.82.27.51.182 (talk) 15:30, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted because you did not use any sources to support the point, and is therefore OR. Gran2 15:39, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Missing Scenes

edit

Are there missing scenes in this episode? If what I downloaded is also shown in TV, then some scenes are missing, such as when Homer buys 43 bathtubs and is given an offer of 50 bathtubs.--Dan2paul (talk) 08:39, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
My bad. It was syndicated.--Dan2paul (talk) 14:48, 21 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

imagery

edit

Reading this article, and not having seen this television episode, I don't find anything further suited to requiring any non-free imagery as per the non-free content criteria. Thus far, and I'm certainly open to others' interpretations, there's no prose that needs to be illustrated by copyrighted material to be understandable or pertinent (that's not already wikilinked to another article). The NFCC require that any media be non-replaceable by libre content, to include text; WP:NFCC#8 requires that the media be necessary to the readers' understanding of the article. As I said above, I found no instances whereupon a copyrighted image would be required to understand any portion of this prose.

That being said, the image that was in this article, Image:Hvt18a.png, was deleted for these specific reasons as laid out at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2008 June 24#Image:Hvt18a.png. On the other hand, Image:Nighthawksreference.png suits the article (and specific section it's in) excellently. I would rather there be more information about that specific shot and its importance and implications, but as is, I'm not ogrish. Cheers. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 18:33, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

NY Times reference

edit

I have a really distinct memory of an article in the NY Times that referred to this as the best episode, or perhaps the last line as the "best line ever" of the show. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I did a quick search on their website but didn't find anything. Might be nice to add here if it can be located? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.216.243 (talk) 21:16, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
