Paragraph about Hahnemann and MM

edit

Although interesting, this paragraph doesn't have anything to do with any Homeopthic MM. It is about Hahnemann using a (non-homeopathic) MM, and is more suited to either the MM or Hahnemann articles, in my opinion. --SesquipedalianVerbiage (talk) 21:29, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • The point of the paragraph is to show the historical relationship of homeopathic MM to the more general MM of that day. It shows the origin of the term and the part that MM played in the creation of homeopathy. I knew none of this before I started and found the details illuminating. What the article needs now is more details of the development of the specifically homeopathic MM from this fons et origio. Colonel Warden (talk) 08:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Provings with potentised remedies

edit

The article currently only mentions provings being carried out by recording symptoms exhibited after "a substance was ingested", thus implying that provings are carried out using the crude substance. This is inaccurate: provings are nowadays usually carried out using potentised remedies at 30C, as recommended by Hahnemann in later editions of The Organon. Should we add a comment to this effect? Sounds good to me. This article needs more content and sources. Everything should be clearly related to HMM, obviously. --SesquipedalianVerbiage (talk) 13:38, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it might be a good additional sentence. We could even reference Paul Hercu's book which does an excellent job of detailing how to go about one.Drpolich (talk) 17:30, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

If that provides a reliable source for provings being carried out at 30C that would be great. Obviously, we have what Hahnemann wrote, and most (if not all) of the provings I've seen posted on the web have been at 30C, but it would obviously be better to have a reasonably recent reliable source which states that this is how it is done. More references

edit

I tend to be pretty conservative with my Materia Medica choices and I thought it might be useful to add some of the more reliable materia medica. I would prefer to avoid listing some of the more recent and less reliable versions. My thought are Cronic Diseases by H, Allen's Encyclopedia, Hering's Guiding Symptoms. What do you think? P.S. Those of you who are more knowledgable, is Wiki the place to add a page on the practice of homeopathy, ie. how a person goes about practicing homeopathy. The main reference would be the organon Drpolich (talk) 17:35, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
