Behavioral Ecology Student Suggestions

This was a really great article! You covered quite a lot of good information in the article and were really thorough with the mating section. I really like how you outlined mating behavior distinctions from other species within the same family. I changed all the family names to be unitalicized as they should be capitalized but not italicized. Only genus, species, and subspecies names are italicized. I also moved some hyperlinks of the same word earlier in the article such as stridation in the mating section because you had the hyperlink at the second appearance of the word. One suggestion I have, which is dependent on what research is available, is to expand to web section. I think the information there is really good but it is very similar to the group living section. If you were able to include more about the details of web building and how that affects group living that would really differentiate the web section from the group living section. If the data is not available, maybe reach out to the researcher of the web social living to ask about more information regarding the web structure! Dgoldblum (talk) 03:35, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

Overall, this was a well-constructed article. I made a couple of minor grammatical changes to enhance sentence flow (commas for dependent clauses, removed a few instances of passive voice, changed wording in a couple of places with hard to follow sentences). Additionally, I would consider removing the extra space after periods since most style guides prefer 1 space after periods (I changed a few but not all), although I'm not sure if Wikipedia has an explicit rule for this. I also added links for a few of the more technical terms, such as molt, sternum, and clypeus, and added in-line citations to the lead section. However, there is still some un-cited information in the lead, phylogeny, and interactions with humans and livestock sections. The habitat description of "attics, basements, and eaves" is un-cited both times it is mentioned, for example, and I was not sure what source this was coming from. The same is true for the phylogeny section and the description of venom at the end of the page. I also added a more general habitat description (not specific to Southern California). While not classified as an invasive species, there also seems to be some info online (from the araneae Spiders of Europe website) about this spider spreading into other parts of Europe, which you could add in. Fellow student article feedback

Hi Rena, great work with your article! I made a few edits to it a while ago but forgot to keep a record of them on this talk page so I've come back to do that now. One of the edits I made was when you describe the species as a species of daddy long leg spider. Daddy long leg is used to refer to multiple spider species, even ones that aren't related, as well as even non-spider species. Hence, I added the note that they're also called cellar spiders to add specificity. I made that edit in multiple places in the article. I also changed a description of the spider as a household pest. Whether spiders are pests is often a matter of perception. In fact, spiders often provide anti-pest protection, eating other commonly considered pests like flies. Hence, I changed to wording to say that the spider “is considered” a household pest. The rest of my edits were just grammar/spelling issues that I noticed -- otherwise, you have an excellent article.
