Technical issues

Yes, it is pretty official that Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and similar roller coasters have a technical issue that requires the ride be shut down until it's resolved. However, these type closures, unless they have been specifically caused by an incident surrounding said issue, should be chalked up as maintenance and are not considered notable. Similarly, RCDB, considered Wikipedia's major source for roller coaster information, still lists the ride as "operating". --McDoobAU93 04:59, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

According to Screamscape, Universal may be even planning on permanently closing and demolishing Rockit on account of it's technical issues. They are also reporting that the Orlando Sentinel has confirmed a lawsuit filed between Universal and Maurer Sohne related to the issues. Could someone find a link to this article to reference?--Snowman Guy (talk) 04:38, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
First off, Screamscape, as good as it is, is still a rumor site. Second, I just read said post on the webpage myself, and I believe you've misread it. He says that there are wild rumors that Universal may remove Rockit, and if that were the case, we'd be hearing about a lawsuit in the Orlando Sentinel already, and there hasn't been any such suit. He continues by saying that while Universal "might" be unhappy with the ride, removing it after barely a year in operation would be a bit extreme. A quick search of the Sentinel's website confirms the last stories about Rockit are regarding the park going ahead with annual maintenance during the downtime. So, in summary, the attraction is closed for maintenance, nothing more, and reporting on temporary closures is not encyclopedic. --McDoobAU93 05:20, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Unless someone has a better idea (or more informed opinion), the only events that would merit inclusion regarding Rockit's issues would be announcement of plans to re-do track sections or other similar major modifications ... and, of course, the unlikely event of Universal deciding to remove the ride completely. --McDoobAU93 16:31, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

According to screamscape they opened the ride on the 28/10/10 and they had just refurbished the cars.Camlees (talk) 21:13, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

GA fail

I'm sorry to say that I must fail this article as it does not meet the criteria for a good article. The are sourcing problems as well as problems in the prose. Before re-nominating this article for GA in the future, follow these tips:

  • Copy-edit the article. Articles need to have a strong prose without spelling/grammer errors, and this article has a few, as well as run-ons.
  • Un-link the dates, as it is no longer part of Wikipedia's Manual of Style.
  • Add more sources/references. Mostly the "Track Layout" section, only has one reference in the beginning, and the rest of the section remains un-sourced.

If you have any questions, ask me on my talk page. Best of luck with the article, iMatthew (talk) 14:31, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
