Recommended for Semi-Protection edit

I have recommended this page for semi-protection. This means that only logged in users would be able to edit this page. I may also go as far as recommending it for full protection untill the dispute over the article entitled 'The Rwandan Controversy' is over. Kirachinmoku (talk) 21:37, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • It appears that the arguement that caused this article to be protected has ended and thus protection is no longer needed. I have reccomended that protection be removed and that i will watch this article just in case. Kirachinmoku (talk) 18:21, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • This hasent been done due to some ongoing conflicts of information. Kira Chinmoku (talk) 10:03, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced references edit

I added a reference to the sucking of Peter Brooks in 1993 but this was removed due to their being "no references". Whilst agree that there are no web-based references, the college clearly have record of this. I named the head and deputy head teachers at the time. I have not added this do "discredit" the college - it is quite simply a matter which occured when I was a student. It is therefair of the college to insist on removing them.

I've edited the article after investigating the references given. Many of the references only refer to the incidents they are supposedly supporting in very broad and general terms, and do nothing more than confirm that an event took place - much of this seems to be one persons malicious take on events, twisting the reports to discredit the College (most evidently the claims of unfair student selection methods, where no charges were brought, and the investigating body merely advised minor changes to a fundamentally sound selection process). Also, reference to the 'Hockerill Observer' is null and void, since no such publication exists - I've investigated it's existence, and appears to be entirely a figment of the original posters imagination. I'll continue my enquires, and continue to monitor this page. Thanks Rooney the waster (talk) 09:07, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Hockerill article is burdened with unsourced statements. I think that everything is true but Wikipedia needs proper sources. If anybody knows any, please edit the article. Thank you, --Mensuur 14:14, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article is currently being reviewed by staff here at the College, in particular the slanderous comments assigning blame for the missing Rwandans to Mr Ullmann. Hockerill Anglo-European College 08:13, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article doesnt, nor ever has implied that Mr Ullmann in any way, shape or form, aided the Rwandans to escape or wanted this to happen. It merely states that as head of the department, he is ultimatley responsible for these children's whereabouts.

As such it is not slanderous but informative. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising site. This means that as this information is relevant, the schools staff should not be able to remove this information. The article in question is an informative statement and thus earns its place on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.121.4.95 (talk) 11:36, 18 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Unfortunately i must say i am still unhappy about the citations within the article. Please please please put some in as this is of users of wikipedia destinguish between truth and lies. Thank you Kira Chinmoku (talk) 20:36, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Assess edit

This article needs more content and a few references to qualify for a B. History? Alumni? etc. Dahliarose 17:02, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The history of the school can be seen on display around the campus, particularly in the chapel where there is a small display of material. Despite requests, the school have refused to release copies of this material onto the web and cannot be sourced. Contact Dr Worsnop, assistant principal, who has compiled a book on the school. Despite it being biased and ridiculed by the students (!) it's very interesting and contains sourced information regarding the history of the school.

Advertising edit

There is much more that can be added to this article regarding the history of this establishment and this article currently seems to serve as an advert!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.208.10.232 (talk) 09:13, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree that Hockerill has tried, in the past, to make their wikipedia page an advert, but thanks to clean up by moderators and concerned observers, the article is probably acceptable. HOWEVER: small sentences such as "As a result of the inspirational work of Paul Foulkes, Director of Music, the school has been able to blossom in this area." Im not familiar with the finer points of wikipedia's standards, but i would like to know how this vocabulary could be considered fit for an encyclopedia.

Hockerill need to tone down their "advert". I am going to adjust. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacobsdad (talkcontribs) 00:39, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • As the articles advertising as been removed/toned down, i am going to remove the advertising tag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kirachinmoku (talkcontribs) 14:57, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lack of information edit

  • The 2 articles in question have been extended (or merged with another new section and extended. But references are still needed.
  • Although the IB section has been extended, it is still very short.
Kira Chinmoku (talk) 10:25, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I can't see what else can be added about the IB - it is mentioned and a link to the IB Wikipedia article is noted - further expansion could be deemed as marketing and probably would be. I would remind users that Wikipedia in an encyclopedia, NOT an advertising site. If the college insist on using this article as a source of advertising (is user Kirachinmoku affiliated??) then it should be protected by some other person. Jacobsdad (talk) 09:24, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Although i do have a connection to the school (being an ex-student), i remain neutral as is wikipedia's policy. Kira Chinmoku (talk) 22:55, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{editsemiprotected}} In the information, the school colours are Blue and Black, not blue and yellow.

More advertising attempts? edit

Someone is trying their hardest to use this page as a marketing tool - I have removed some phrases from the article as they weren't needed. Please tone down the grammaticism. Jacobsdad (talk) 12:41, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

10/07/2009 - Good to see the page has been toned down. I am keeping it under a watchfull eye! Jacobsdad (talk) 04:57, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tidy up edit

I will be making an attempt to tidy up the page by doing things like checking grammer and spelling. if anyone else wishes to help out with this your more than welcome to. Kira Chinmoku (talk) 10:05, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Robert B. Guthrie edit

It is noted in the article that Robert Guthrie retired from the school "recently". I understand it was some time ago now (possibly 2 years) and this is not recent news. Given that Guthrie is not a noteable person (other than perhaps to former employees of the college) I have removed the comment. It serves no purpose anymore.
