Since I delisted the article earlier, I'll re-review it to make sure it still holds up to GA status. The review will come within a couple days. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 03:41, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Here are the issues I found:

  • Two deadlinks: [1]
  • "With the retirement of two of their most important figures of the 1980s and early 1990s after the 1993 season, namely Phil Simms and Lawrence Taylor," since you say retirement of two stars, the "namely" isn't necessary.
  • "and early 1990s both retired." comma before both.
  • "victory over the Cowboys at Giants Stadium" while linked below, the Dallas Cowboys should instead be written out and linked here, since it's the first mention.
  • ", and linebackers Jessie Armstead and Michael Brooks." Brooks can be linked, I would think he has an article.
  • "losing even more players to "salary cap free agency"" I'm a little confused as to why that's quoted.
  • "After having only one playoff appearance in 4 seasons," write out four.
  • "The Giants then won their next 5 games in a row." same as above.
  • "with a young Danny Kanell." link. also, maybe theer's a better word then young; was he a rookie perhaps?
  • "Eastern Division for the first time" NFC East Division might be clearer.
  • "Kent Graham. However, neither quarterback provided Pro Bowl caliber play, although Graham led the Giants to a 5-1 finish " link Kent, and the however at the start of the sentence isn't needed.
  • "The conventional wisdom was that Fassel needed to have a strong year and a playoff appearance to retain his job." I'd like to see a cite for this.
  • "The Giants' big draft acquisition" link to the 2000 draft.
  • "After back–to–back November losses at home against St. Louis and Detroit dropped them to 7–4" comma at end

For now I'm going to stop here and wait until all this has been taken care of, then I'll review the rest of the article. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 00:14, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Here's the rest:

  • "The 2002 season saw the arrival of tight end Jeremy Shockey from the University of Miami" comma after miami.
  • Link 49ers
  • "and with 4 minutes left" write out 4. There are a couple more situations like this in the rest of the article.
I fixed these, but when I did Jordan at FAC I was able to keep single digit numbers in numeral form, after showing that sports articles written by reporters usually use numerals for single digit numbers. Minor stuff though. Quadzilla99 (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • "Main article: Rivers-Manning trade" can be removed, it redirects to the draft.
Ah, that used to be an article, and a pretty interesting one iirc. Guess the contents were thrown in the waste basket and merged. Since I don't see any of it in the draft article. Quadzilla99 (talk) 21:31, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • "When the trade was announced, the crowd in attendance at the draft (which was held in New York) cheered loudly." should be cited.
  • "Top performers on the season included Tiki Barber who established a personal career high in rushing yardage with 1,518 yards and also contributed 52 catches and 15 touchdowns" a couple commas needed here.
  • "which had been set by Gene Roberts on November 12, 1950." roberts can be linked
  • "During the season it was also announced that the New York Giants, New York Jets and the New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority had reached an agreement where both teams will work together to build a new stadium adjacent to the current Giants Stadium." any specific date? should also be cited.
  • "Defensively the team struggled all season long with pass defense (28th in the league) and with gaining a consistent pass rush." cite
  • "The Giants became the third NFL franchise to win at least 600 games when they defeated the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football 31-10. " cite
  • "Main article: 2007 New York Giants season Main article: Super Bowl XLII" can be joined together like the three seasons are below.
In all of the history articles I've generally given Super Bowl seasons their own section, because of their historical importance. Quadzilla99 (talk) 21:52, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I did merge the 2004-06 seasons though. Quadzilla99 (talk) 22:33, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • "The Giants' week eight road game against the Miami Dolphins on October 28 in London's Wembley Stadium was the NFL first regular-season game to be played outside of North America.[47] The Giants defeated the Dolphins, 13-10." these sentences can probably be combined.
  • "The Giants won 11 out for their first twelve games before stumbling to lose 4 of their final five including a 23-11 loss to the Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round." here 12 can just be in number form. the 4 and 5 could go either way here.
  • "The Giants nonetheless remained in the playoff picture until being crushed by the Panthers in Week 16 and ended the year with an 8-8 record after another overwhelming defeat in Minnesota" scores? should be added in if adjectives like that are going to be used.
These previous two points (the numbers and the informal weasel words) I must have missed when I copy-edited the new stuff that was added since I left. Quadzilla99 (talk) 22:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • "Titans CB Cortland Finnegan" spell out cornerback, link Finnegan/Diehl

I'll put the article on hold and pass it when the issues are addressed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 01:19, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

I will keep the article on hold until November 1. Should the issues still not be addressed, I will fail the GAN. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 04:22, 26 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Everything looks good now, so I'll pass the article as a GA. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 00:25, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
