Undetected Trolling or Vandalism?

There is a strange sentence that is an anachronism

 "The conversion of Brazil, beginning about the middle of the nineteenth century, was brought about by the Jews, after whom came the Franciscans"

I could speculate that this is two typos, may be they meant "middle of the sixteenth century" and "Jesuits" instead of Jews. But I decide to simply delete this sentence, because it is unsourced garbage as is and the remainder of the paragraph is still providing the necessary information. I hope to add to the Present Day portion of the article as well as fix some of the grammatical errors present throughout the article. Additionally, I would like to edit the page's lead section to more accurately represent the contents of the article, with a greater focus on Catholicism in Brazil rather than the disjointed sentence about Brazil's statistics. Along with these additions, I plan to clean up some of the spelling/grammar errors and overall, clean up the page. Some of the sources I plan on using for the expanded sections are Kenneth P. Serbin's "'Bowling Alone,' Bishops' Biographies, and Baptism by Blood: New Views of Progressive Catholicism in Brazil," Stephen Selka's "Black Catholicism in Brazil," and the entry for Brazil in Worldmark Encyclopedia of Religious Practices. Additionally, I hope to add a couple of online references in an external link section on the page. If possible, I would like to find an image in Wikimedia Commons to add to the page, whether it be a map or an image of something else relevant to the article.
