Aside from the sections that directly repeat the article, these sections are particularly dubious:

down graded to the status of historic county with no official standing - I'm not sure this is what happened. It was(is) a historic county. You can't 'downgrade' to that
As a "county" Yorkshire and the Humber was put in its place with the aforementioned territory loses - Yorkshire and the Humber was not put in place until much later and was not intended as replacement for Yorkshire and defintitely not a "county"
while its neighbours, Lancashire and Lincolnshire were still allowed to coutinue using their traditional county name and hold official status - There isn't really any prohibition on the term "Yorkshire". Lots of organisations (official and otherwise) recognise it.

And finally, the intro text is too focussed on the Act of 1972. That isn't the only reform that has ever happened in Yorkshire and should not dominate the article. MRSC • Talk 13:39, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

There always seems to be confusion with Yorkshire - the historic county was, for convenience sake, used as the administrative region for a long time, but is no longer. The integrity of the Ridings still exists, but people (especially younger generations) have forgotten or do not know about them. All historic counties need to be signposted and promoted, then perhpas people will remember what a local (and therefore national) identity is! 135.196.157.83 (talk) 11:58, 28 January 2014 (UTC) FWReply

Wow. Thanks for that! I suggest:

create a table or bulleted list of transfers between Yorkshire and other counties
create a table of internal transfers between ridings
summarise in text the continous expansion of CBs (no need for too much details - perhaps just give two or three examples over time)

Also we could include more details of population too. What % of Yorkshire were in the CBs in 1901, 1931 etc. (we have 1971 only at the moment). MRSC • Talk 18:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
