Orphaned references in Sri Lanka in the twentieth century edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Sri Lanka in the twentieth century's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "jane":

  • From History of Sri Lanka: Dr. Jane Russell, Communal Politics under the Donoughmore constitution. Tsiisara Prakasakyo, Dehivala, 1982
  • From Trincomalee: Russell, J. (1982). Communal politics under the Donoughmore Constitution. Colombo: Tissara Publishers. pp. Ch. iv. ISBN 1851180028.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 11:10, 19 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Should this article be redistributed? edit

I think that this article should be redistributed to Sri Lanka and Dominion of Ceylon, because "Sri Lanka in the twentieth century" should not be a separate article. The first section titled "Independence" should be merged into the History section of Dominion of Ceylon, while the remaining material should be merged into Sri Lanka. Does anyone oppose this? If not, I will re-appropriate the information and put a speedy delete template for no content after 24 hours.

Strange tone in Introduction? edit

Reading through the introduction of this article -

"Currently, there is a peaceful situation in Sri Lanka and the country is being run very well. The civil war in Sri Lanka ended in 2009 and there is no problem between the Sinhalese and Tamil people of Sri Lanka and they live in harmony. Sri Lanka's independence in 1948 made Sri Lanka the prosperous state it is today."

I don't see the reason behind including these vague and subjective statements? Doesn't really fit the tone of Wikipedia articles and reads more like a propaganda piece. 2A02:6B6E:18DD:0:EC98:7073:13A5:5BD8 (talk) 22:01, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
