I did not change every Oradea listing but the established practice (see the Danzig/Gdansk debates) is to use both names of the city in the article (i.e Danzig before 1945, Gdansk after 1945)
This would be fitting for this case as all the medeival dates refer to Nagyvárad or Grosswardrein, not to Oradea. After Trianon it should be referred to as Oradea. Any objections? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.224.28.2 (talk) 14:55, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
We must not forget that Nagyvárad was given to Romania in the Diktat of Trianon in 1921, Nagyvárad was part of Hungary, it had never been part of Romania until it was given to Romania. No plebiscites were allowed in Nagyvárad, as the population of Nagyvárad was over 90% Hungarian and its inhabitants would have voted to remain part of Hungary as they did in the only plebiscite permitted that took place in Sopron western Hungary.
Consequently Nagyvárad artificially became Oradea.
