History of Alabama

This article looks good. Didn't seem to me possible that Baptists were in north Alabama that early (or any European). While the History of Alabama says otherwise, it tends to be a bit flaky on dates and events. We need (there) some demonstration of the removal of the Indian threat, if any, and dates, and settlers moving in and growing stuff (rather than hunting), settling down. Maybe even with a store or two someplace. That history is not quite credible enough to validate this one. Maybe this one could use a small lead in, missing in the other. Flint River Church

I added the phrase "now known as Flint River Primitive Baptist Church" in the sentence describing Alabama's oldest baptist church with two sources. I also changed the word "permanent" to "second" in the sentence describing Enon Baptist, ie First Baptist Huntsville. It is not accurate that First Baptist is the first "permanent" church because the actual first baptist church (Flint River) is still in existence. MS Territory or AL Territory??

Was this not MS territory until 1817? In that case, should not the opening paragraph refer to the MS Territory rather than AL Territory?Bwinslett (talk) 06:15, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
