Actually, Johnleemk said exactly this: The result of the debate was this pisses me off terribly, but it's a no consensus; keep. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Essaywriting (talk • contribs) .

What that means is this. There was no consensus to delete the article, but that does not represent a consensus to keep it in its present form. Redirection is not deletion, since it can be reversed and the article history is preserved. Thus no consenus to delete = default keep. But that does not prevent redirection and merging as these don't require deletion.
In any case, the consensus is irrelevant as this article is a 'how to' with a North American Schools bias. WP:NOT a 'how to'. Historical essays in N. American schools context may well mean what this article suggests. But 'historical essay' itself means only an essay (i.e. short one-author piece of work) pertaining to history. It is not neccessarily an 'assignment'and nothing this article states neccessarily applies to it. If we remove all the errors and POV and 'how-to-stuff' we are left with a dicdef: 'is an essay pertaining to history'. We are not a dictionary, so that is best redirected to the general article on 'essay'. --Doc ask? 11:59, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
No consensus is just that - no consensus. The AfD only exists to decide whether to delete the article. Once it's over, it's immaterial, and any action that has consensus now (not the consensus - or lack of it - of a year ago or a day ago or whenever the AfD was closed) should be carried out. That is all I have to say. Johnleemk | Talk 12:21, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
I saw redirect. The target is broader, more likely to be what the person performing the search intended, and is encyclopedic and verifiable. - brenneman(t)(c) 12:34, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
This page has a lot of informational content to stay as is. No need to redirect to Essay. --Mykola Petrenko 19:16, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
The information is not encyclopedic, and there reall couldn't be much here that was unless it related to essay in general. There seem as consensus yo keep the redirect for now. --Doc ask? 19:43, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
FYI, only you, ABCD and Aaron support redirection, against me, Essaywr., and AnonymousCoward. Three against three. No consensus at all. So why don't just we keep? --Mykola Petrenko 19:57, 24 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
For the reasons I have outlined above. WP:NOT a how to (no matter how many people want it to be), no information other than a dicdef will be accurate. Please stop being a lawyer and suggest what could be here if it were not a redirect. So far no arguments or suggestions have been offered.--Doc ask? 20:15, 24 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
