TITLE OF ARTICLE edit

The title is itself polemical. The title is a claim that those who hold this position are historical, as opposed to (for example) pre-trib rapturists. The title should be changed to something objectively descriptive, such as Post-Tribulationism. Or at least the article should start with the statement that "Historic Premillennialism" is the term which some who are post-tribulationists, use for themselves. INITIAL SUMMARY NOT UNIQUE edit

The initial description says, "Post-tribulational premillennialism is the Christian eschatological view which teaches that the second coming of Jesus Christ will occur prior to a thousand-year reign of the saints, but subsequent to the great apostasy and the tribulation." The exact same statement can be made concerning Dispensational-Premillennialism. Thus, the initial statement does not really set forth how historic premillennialism differs. JAMES MONTGOMERY BOICE TAUGHT DISPENSATIONAL PREMILLENNIALISM edit

This is evident in his book Last and Future World and his commentary on the minor prophets. Keith Mathison alleges that Boice taught historical millennialism, but I have yet to find this in Boice's own teachings, and Mathison never cites where Boice taught this. IRENAEUS DID NOT HOLD THIS VIEW edit

In the 'History' section somebody has erroneously claimed that Irenaeus held to "Historic premillennialism". As is unamiguously noted on the Irenaeus article, Irenaeus clearly believed otherwise: "Irenaeus declares that the Antichrist's future three-and-a-half-year reign, when he sits in the temple at Jerusalem, will be terminated by the second advent, with the resurrection of the just, the destruction of the wicked, and the millennial reign of the righteous. The general resurrection and the judgment follow the descent of the New Jerusalem at the end of the millennial kingdom." Someone has clearly failed to check his/her sources, or worse - somebody, in an effort to support their presuppositions, has knowingly attributed a view to Irenaeus that he not only did not hold, but contradicts. Therefore, I have removed this baseless, erroneous statement from the article. It is also to be noted there is misinformation in the first paragraph. The newer title is historic premillennialism, not posttribulation premillennialism. The second is the older name for the doctrine. Also, Irenaeus, Justin Martyr, Papias, and Polycarp's writings concerning this is premillennial but none of them designate the rapture timing. This page was obviously written by someone with an agenda of promoting their personal doctrine of posttribulation rapture. The article also erroneously states premillenials who are not postrib are dispensationalist.
