Konoe a military extremist for a military shogunate?

I'm confused. Everything I've read on Prince Fumimaro Konoe even the Wikipedia bio on the man implies the exact opposite. He was even for expanding democratic suffrage(voting rights) to the point of including the lowest classes of male workers(which at the time was considered and extreme left wing attitude). He is recorded as constantly resisting military control over the government even resigned over it. I don't know about the other Jushin this author claims were all for a military shogunate to replace what democracy Japan did have in it's Diet, but I do know that from what I've read even on wikipedia here so far, that Konoe fellow sure seemed the opposite. The new group included former Prime Ministers Mitsumasa Yonai, Nobuyuki Abe, and Konoe Fumimaro, all of whom supported Japan's aggressive foreign policy and the right-socialist ideals of Kingoro Hashimoto on creation of a Military Shogunate that would manage the Imperial affairs directly.

Ok, I read the other Wikipedia biography links on the above mentioned Jushin and it seems Konoe, Abe and Yonai were actually all against war and let alone Hashimoto's idea of a military Shogunate, only Hiranuma was for it. That's 3 out of 4 listed against. I definately think that author should edit his statement. It seems clearly false.Befuddler (talk) 23:33, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
