Talk:High Year of Tenure

Applies to all 5 branches edit

HYT applies to all 5 branches of the military; not just the USAF. Jigen III (talk) 02:27, 16 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Officers? edit

The lead says this applies to both enlisted and officers, but then only has info on enlisted HYT.

For General & Flag rank officers it's written into US law (5 YIG, or 30/35/38/40 YIS respectively), though in practice they can be reapointed again and again until they reach the age limit (64 plus 1 month, though that in turn can be deferred to age 66 or 68).

For non-general/flag rank officers, It's not so much "High year Tenure" as rather DOPMA regulates an up or out system.

I'm not sure if there is anysuch thing for Warrant Officers.

Greetings. Noticed incorrect data for USAF high year of tenure and updated that column in the HYT table to reflect current USAF policy. Also provided an updated link to the source. nen

Is HYT to avoid Peter Principle edit

Should that be discussed in the page? SnappingTurtle (talk) 19:27, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
