"$2 an inch" edit

I removed the "$2 per square inch" phrasing even though there were two different references using that figure. For the given dimensions the triangle has an area of 310sqin. I suspect the earlier source (NYTimes) calculated the area of a 2 foot square (488sqin) the second source copied NYTimes. What are current best practices when dealing with factually incorrect citations? —dgiestc 20:28, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Is it possible that the plaque isn't the entirety of the plot? There's a concrete border around the plaque, which might account for the missing 190in². pburka (talk) 21:00, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
The only sources I've seen agree on the triangle's dimensions as 27.5"/27.5"/25.5". Can you find any sources which support a larger measurement? A more recent NYTimes article reports 27"/25", and the $1000 price, but dropped the "$2/inch" phrase. To get to 500sqin we'd be talking a triangle about 33"-35" on a side, and I can't find any references supporting that size. —dgiestc 22:14, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
In 1928, the plot was described as measuring "three feet each way".[1] If you look at the photo of the plaque, you can see that the concrete triangle extends 3 or 4 inches further in each direction. I don't know what is correct, but it's plausible that the plaque is smaller than the plot. pburka (talk) 20:49, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

$100 vs $1000 edit

the source [7] behind paywall is reference for the $100 in the english wiki version. others mention $1000 and find references like BBC https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20190314-new-yorks-cheeky-symbol-of-defiance Guess we can be better than factor 10 uncertainty here ;)
