Possible pointers to improve article,

svg map of other possible routes eg Tola de Habich 2018 route,
copy edit throughout to remove foreign words,
incorporate / add via notes anecdotes or itinerary as per Díaz del Castillo, as this seems like an influential / popular account often referenced in lit if even just to be qualified or dismissed,
review still-not-cited refs to incorporate into text, esp book-length studies of the expedition eg León Cázares & Conover Blancas 2020, Ortiz Lanz 2018,
expand cultural legacy sec,
merge infoboxes if possible (I tried to embed one into the other but it looked weird, but both boxes seem useful here as the expedition seems both a military conflict, and an exploratory venture, so article infobox would ideally recap both aspects),
