It was pure coincidence when he was "re-discovered" by Officials of Austrian Ski Federation: According to time schedule, Maier wouldn't have started as a fore runner for the 2nd heat of the Giant Slalom in Flachau. At the same time there took place Ski Jumping in Bischofshofen (Four-Hills-Event 1995/96) and that Jumping finished with a delay (International TV broadcasting).
