Name of daughter edit

In the book I am currently reading Boerhaave's daughter is called "Johanna Maria". In the article it is "Maria Joanna". I can understand the removal of the 'h' in three centuries and from Dutch to English, but I don't understand why the names are reversed. Does anyone know whether it's Jo(h)anna Maria or Maria Jo(h)anna? Stefan Kruithof 19:08, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The testament of her father lists the name "Johanna Maria Boerhaave" https://www.ntvg.nl/system/files/publications/1956109190001a.pdf Brienanni (talk) 18:33, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Review for History of Modern Medicine edit

Nice job on the article! Just a few comments: - The first paragraph has a few long sentences. I think it would be more understandable if the sentences were split into multiple shorter ones. - Explain what the doctrines of Epicurus, Thomas Hobbes, and Spinoza in the first paragraph of the biography - Say what illness he died from - Great explanation on the hydraulic theory! - I think the transitions from one paragraph to the other on the same section could use some work to flow a bit better. Hortus Cliffortianus edit

The caption of the photo of Oud Poelgeest states:

This was the site of his outdoor botanical garden that was renowned during his lifetime and rivalled Hortus Cliffortianus, the garden of his friend and sponsor to Linnaeus.

This implies that Hortus Cliffortianus is an actual garden. However, it is the title of a work of botanical literature, published in 1737, shortly before Boerhaave's death. Also, who is "his friend"?  --Lambiam 12:13, 17 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
