The father of Herluin de Conteville may have been Earl Jean de Conteville. I don't know who his mother was. King Robert II (of France) isn't likely to have been Herluin's father. I don't think he had any surviving children with Bertha of Burgundy. (a.windemere@gmail.com) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.128.177.248 (talk) 16:07, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I believe that King Robert II of France is the father of Herluin de Conteville. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GeneralRichey23 (talkcontribs) 23:12, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
You maybe right, and I think I know how to prove that. Robert's second wife is Bertha. Since Herluin was a lepered, that's probably why he didn't succeded to the throne of France, just like Pepin the Hunchback, son of Charlemagne. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Emperor00 (talkcontribs) 19:44, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I feel the father of Herluin de Conteville is this Osmond de Conteville that I've been finding research about, since we know that Jean de Conteville, may not exist I think we should set up a page that, talks about both Osmond and Jean. --DeConteville00 (talk) 05:56, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Death date discrepancy edit

The first paragraph gives 1066 as his death date; the death category gives 1087. Which is correct?--FeanorStar7 (talk) 00:30, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fixed, I think (1066). A certain amount of dubious genealogy has been spun around purported descents from Herluin, it seems, plus the article tends to get attacked by User:Burkem socks; hopefully things are reasonably well shored up now. Choess (talk) 01:09, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is stated in the paragraph 'Marriage to Herleva' that Herluin bore the body of his stepson William the Conquerer (died 1087) loyally to his grave. Since Herluin dies 1066, he had been dead for over 20 years. How can this be ? RobertWiersma (talk) 00:15, 18 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
