Origins

Merger from Polled Hereford

Since the article states that the breed registry considers Polled Herefords and Herefords the same breed, shouldn't this be merged with Hereford (cattle)? Psyphics 03:47, 6 April 2006 (UTC), fixed wikilink Psyphics 03:18, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

No really sure about that. Many shows still separate the horned and polled breeds and most auctions differentiate them when selling. Polled Herefords also tend to lack some of the muscling of their horned counterparts because they were selected for a secondary trait.

Reference format

I'm thinking of trying to do some work on this page, and in particular adding some of the long and rather interesting history of the breed. I'd also like to add to and improve the references. Would anyone object if I changed the referencing system to list-defined at the same time (the only real change is that the references are moved into the reference section at the foot of the page, which makes it easier to read the wikitext)?
