Strigopoidea
editIf it's related to the Kakapo, would we put in the speciesbox that it's in superfamily Strigopoidea?--Mr Fink (talk) 21:04, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
- The authors state that they refrain from assigning the fossil to Strigopoidea because the diagnosis is uncertain. It's noted as "?Strigopoidea" in the paper. So I'd suggest leaving this out for the time being. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 21:16, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
- What they actually said is they refrained from assigning it to a family: "We therefore name it, but do not assign it to a family because its relationships to NZ Nestoridae and Strigopidae, or more derived families, cannot be established at this point." They do suggest it to be a member of Strigopoidea, and given the low number of colonizations of New Zealand I would say the odds of this being correct are very high. - It's true, misread that; they do explicitly suggest an affiliation to the superfamily, although not the family. So adding that level in the template would be supported. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 01:39, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
