Is it just me or does the last line of the article either desperately need to be re-written, or perhaps excised altogether?

Citations for potentially libelous material?

There's some material in here regarding clandestine medical experiments which is certainly libelous if it's not true. Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell one way or the other right now because the assertions aren't sourced. I'm marking it as such, and I'll try to find a source for this stuff.

OK, I found a link (http://www.aegis.com/news/re/2003/RE030415.html) that takes the reader to a Reuter's story from 1993 regarding Heimlich's use of Malarial infection on HIV-positive patients (not AIDS paitents, and certainly not "victims" as the original had it). Heimlich Manoeuvre: Possibly Wrong For Small Children

There was a case reported in New Zealand’s Dominion Post newspaper, 30/08/2008, of a fourteen month old toddler who choked and is now dead. The Heimlich manoeuvre was tried but failed. This does not surprise me.

My late mother told me what to do in the case of a small child who has choked and is turning blue. You lift them by the ankles and shake them up and down. She did not tell me what the exact mechanism was but it is easy to understand. The abdominal contents are thrown against the diaphragm to create positive pressure to blow the obstruction clear. And, of course, the child being upside down, the obstruction is much less likely to fall back. 192.190.108.28 (talk) 03:46, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

After trying several times, the link to medfraud.info crashed my browser each time. Heimlich family petition to rename the procedure

My sister just finished her CPR course, making this at best second hand info...

the Heimlich: no longer called that since the Dr. Heimlich died and the family petitioned to have their name removed due to the many times they have been sued for a mis-performed action
