Do you have his date of death right? biographybase.com lists it 1977, & that sounds right to me.

Obbop mumbles, at the Des Moines IA Web site (http://desmoinesregister.com/extras/iowans/felsen.html) Felsen's date of death is listed as 1995.

The first of many incidents with "authority" that led to my "radicalness" was when I borrowed Felsen's book "The Crash Club" at the Livermore CA public library. I can still clearly recall the male librarian lambasting the book, calling it tripe and unworthy of reading!!!! Heck, you'd think a librarian would be glad a kid was reading anything!!! Twas way back in 1966 or so. I was offended beyond belief at that librarian's spewing. ___________________________________________________________________________________________

In case the linked-to page disappears, here is a snippet from it:

"Henry Felsen Writer 1916-1995

Henry Gregor Felsen wrote books young people loved to read. His novel "Hot Rod" remains a perennial favorite.

Felsen, known as "Hank," wrote about 60 books, most of them during the 40 years he lived in West Des Moines. "I was years ahead of my time," he once said of his moralistic books that tackled such issues as drug abuse, sexism and racism."

As of 11 November 2006 the above link still works. Obbop 209.50.1.80 08:17, 11 A 2006 (UTC)
