Article needs edit

Hello Editors of this article :-) Thanks for your contributions. The article needs sources to back up the data. It also needs to give a more balanced view of the school's academic achievements. Currently it reads like a vanity piece. FloNight 14:51, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've done a little referencing and correcting of facts in the article, particularly on the marching band and liberal arts academy. I am members of both. I agree that this article still needs lots more references and has a spotty coverage of all aspects of the school. —Waterlily16 (talk) 23:48, 5 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree with FloNight, the wording (ex. dominated, resounding victory, etc.) is a bit biased. Its still a great school, bu Wikipedia articles need to be more balanced JJluan (talk) 14:55, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tennis Team? edit

Why isn't there anything included about the Henry Clay Tennis Team? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.140.218.179 (talk) 21:43, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

Proposal to Include Liberal Arts Academy on Page edit

John from Idegon and I are attempting to reach consensus on the addition of pertinent information regarding this school. The content that I wish to include is as follows. 1. A sentence in the introduction that describes Henry Clay High School as housing the Liberal Arts Academy. 2. A separate section in the article including information about the existence of the Academy. 3. There was a mistake on my part where I included the Academy School under the understanding that is it under a Creative Commons license. I have contacted school officials to understand the proper copyright for the image and am making an official apology here for not properly understanding Wikipedia photo regulations. 4. Information about curriculum and rigor regarding the school as per WP:WPSCH 5. Acknowledgment of recognition from the Davidson Institute

All of this information has strong precedent within other High School pages. The other user who seem engaged in this dispute has repeatedly asserted that "Wikipedia does not operate under precedent". The style guide "Other Stuff Exists" seems to make it clear that precedent when specific guidelines are absent serves as an appropriate guide. The concept of "Other Stuff Exists" in the context of this discussion is quite valid here. On the guidelines for "Other Stuff Exists" there are two relevant sections that support the credence of my edits. The first off is the concept of "inherent notability" and that High Schools and schools are worthy enough of mention. The section immediately below that is an important discussion on precedent. I think there needs to be some common ground that other pages about similar topics can and should serve as guides about several thing such as 1. level of detail required 2. What qualifies as a reputable source 3. significance of including details within a page 4. description and explanation about these details In referring to precedent as the style guides suggest, I think it will exclude as much personal preference as possible.Lessconfusedthanbefore (talk) 14:15, 21 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

New sections go on the bottom on talk pages and I have relocated this one so people can find it. It would be helpful to include specifically the copy you want to insert, with the references in it, and a statement as to where you want to insert it in the article. Up front, I will say that I have no objection to including a mention of the program's existence (only), referenced to the school or district, in the academics section. Further response will await your addition of a specific proposal. I will be adding a template for references on talk pages below this writing. Please insert your proposal above the reference template. Additionally, you will never be able to use the logo you added on this article, unless the school were to release its rights to it under a Creative Commons license compatible with ours. For their own protection, they shouldn't do that. It is not eligible for a Fair-use exception on this article. That would only apply if there were an independent article on the academy, which will, in most likelihood, never happen. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 21:21, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Okay, bear with me as I draft what I think would be appropriate. In the header, I think that there should be a line that reads as:

Henry Clay is home to the Liberal Arts Academy.

Then I think an Academics section should have both a curriculum section for the school and for the Academy and a section regarding the Academy. Give me a little while while I draft that. In the mean time. Here are the sources I have. [1] -Time Article about Henry Clay/LAA graduate receiving an award. Doesn't need to be explicitly mentioned, but is outside credibility. [2] - Davidson Insitute [3] - Local paper talking about lack of diversity in academic programs and specifically mentions LAA. [4] -Curriculum, I understand that this comes from the school itself, but with pages such as Roeper School (Michigan) LMSA putting curriculum descriptions without any citations, I thought this is still useful. 99% of the information here isn't necessary and the information I hope to include that is informative rather than congratulatory. The two relevant pieces of information I think are important are 1) The emphasis on AP curriculum rather than dual-enrollment, or another G&T methodology and 2) the 200 hour independent research "Mentoring Project". Reboot edit

Again, PLEASE just put here what you want in the article exactly as you would have it in the article. Again, above the talk reflist. Make your arguments separate from the writing. I cannot figure out what you are trying to say. Oh and kindly format your references, I'll leave instructions on your talk page. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 01:12, 25 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
