This should be included as both a Russian and American geography stub.

How can you say that the U.S. government has never asserted a claim to the island when the Secretary of the Navy from that time (government official involved in the issue at hand) said we claimed it?CharlesRobertCountofNesselrode 23:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

He said that the crew had taken possession in the name of the US. That's not the same as the US government claiming it. We have an authoritative source, the US State Department, saying that the US has never claimed this island. Since this is sourced, I'm restoring it. --Reuben 23:40, 15 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
