Talk:Helsinki commuter rail

What should we call the "kaupunkirata" in English?

edit

Nitpicking alert. Along the initial stretches of the Main and Coastal Lines, two purpose-built tracks exist exclusively for commuter services. In Finland and in the Finnish language, these parallel tracks are called "kaupunkirata" and they are generally treated as (semi-)separate train lines, although they don't split up from existing lines at all. Dare I say it, hardly any passenger could spot a difference at any station or onboard any train.

The word "kaupunkirata" would directly translate as "city track" or "city line" but both of them feel way too grandiose for a pair of tracks laid next to a pair of pre-existing tracks. I have so far translated them as "urban lines" in this article but even that feels like a stretch, at least to me.

Does this concept deserve any particular translation for the term at all? Does one exist in the English language, let alone in active use somewhere? Should we just call them additional tracks? Should we just describe them as capacity improvements on the Main and Coastal Lines, respectively?
