Season 1 release stuff edit

In the article, it states that season 1 will be released in the end of 2021. I don't think this is correct. The way this is worded makes it seem as if all the episodes will be dropped at once, which Medrano has stated is not happening. In addition, Medrano has been sharing teasers for episode 2 on her Instagram, and she stated in both the description of Helluva Boss episode 1 and in the Black Friday merch advertisement that a new HB episode was coming out 'soon'. I don't think a year from now is 'soon', and the progress they have made on the episode certainly looks that it could be released before the end of 2021. I'll have to take a look at the source again later, but I don't think it was correct. Blubewwy (talk) 13:49, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I agree, I don't think the source got it right when they said 2021 as the release of the first episode, and the soon-to-be-released second episode shows. Historyday01 (talk) 14:16, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Episode descriptions edit

Someone seems to have reworded the description of episode 2 of Helluva Boss, and made it an awful mess compared to what it was before. I'm not an extremely advanced Wikipedia editor, so I don't know how to get the old description back, but if someone more experienced than me could bring the old description of it back, it'd be great. For the time being however, I have rephrased the current description so that it is at least readable and doesn't sound like a child wrote it. Blubewwy (talk) 14:24, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blubewwy, I could try and bring it back to what was there before, sure. --Historyday01 (talk) 14:55, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Blubewwy, sorry for removing that stuff for ep 3. Can you remember when the "old description" was used? Because I could add it back in. --Historyday01 (talk) 16:58, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Haha, it's fine. The old description for episode 2 was used about a week ago, so if you could find the page's version from January 23 it would most likely be there. Blubewwy (talk) 17:35, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'll look for the one on January 23, sure, and add that one in. --Historyday01 (talk) 18:09, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

RfC: Conventions for naming Vivienne Medrano edit

There have been dozens of edits over time switching how Vivienne Medrano's name is written after the lead. There should be consistency and a consensus on what it should be. My thoughts are that the article itself (excluding the infobox and episode tables) should have her full name once, then only her last name to refer to her from then on. In the infobox, her name should be written in full each time, and in the episode table, the first episode overall should include her full name in the crediting, with the remaining going for just her last name. SWinxy (talk) 18:51, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree that in the article, she can just be referred to as "Medrano" after her first referral, and that we should have her full name in the infobox for each time she's mentioned, but I think in the episode table, she should be referred to with her full name each time, with the exception of her second voice credit in the fourth episode's synopsis, where she could just be referred to as "Medrano". Blubewwy (talk) 19:50, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Blubewwy, that sounds like a good plan. I was thinking of, possibly, creating a page for her webcomic, Zoophobia, if I can find enough reliable sources, of course. --Historyday01 (talk) 22:25, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sounds cool! I was thinking about a page for ZooPhobia as well, so if you do happen to get a page made for it, I'll probably help out on the page. Blubewwy (talk) 12:41, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I definitely will. The page right now is in one of my sandboxes and I'm adding more to it all the time after creating it yesterday.--Historyday01 (talk) 12:55, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Blubewwy, the ZooPhobia page is currently a draft and I've put together a draft page for Vivzie at Draft:Vivienne Medrano if you are interested in adding anything to that. --Historyday01 (talk) 16:25, 25 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Genre Conflicts edit

There isn't a consensus on which genre Helluva Boss is. The genres added to the infobox (in April) are as follows: musical film, crime (genre), action fiction/adventure fiction, dramedy, animated sitcom, black comedy, supernatural fiction, and adult animation. What genres should HB be?

Here's my opinion on each. Musical film: while it's not a film, it kinda makes sense. There might be a better link, but I can't find it, so if there is, please replace it. Crime: while there is crime, that's not a defining characteristic of the show, 'crime' is more of a mystery-solving thing. Action-adventure: the show isn't action-packed, nor does it have an adventure feeling to it. Dramedy: I would say it's a comedy, but not a drama. Animated sitcom: it's definitely not a sitcom. Black comedy: yeah sure. Supernatural fiction: ehh... maybe? I don't think the show would be 'supernatural.' Adult animation: uncontroversially yes. SWinxy (talk) 18:42, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think we should follow the model of other pages and only add genres that have sources for them. I am wary of adding adult animation back in as a "genre," as I don't think it's needed as the first line of the opening already mentions it is an adult animation. I agree with you that crime doesn't sound right, and neither does action-adventure, dramedy. But, yeah I agree that Black comedy makes sense, possibly supernatural fiction (that may be a stretch). For musical film, maybe Musical theatre would be better? Dunno... Anyway, I'm in total agreement that it is NOT a sitcom. Shows like American Dad! and The Simpsons are sitcoms, but Helluva Boss isn't. No siree. Thanks for posting this, because I have also been worried about the genre creep. Historyday01 (talk) 19:18, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
'Genre creep.' I like the sound of it. That reminds me of a very heated debate on whether Minecraft was a programming game (it's not). imo the genres/categories should only be applied if they are a defining characteristic (unless there's a MOS/policy that touches on it). SWinxy (talk) 22:16, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
I agree. They should have to be a defining characteristic to be included. I'm in support of doing, what is done on other pages, that you need sources for the genres, like on the Steven Universe, Mysticons, The Owl House, Adventure Time, Cleopatra in Space (TV series) pages, to give some examples. Here is some in-line/hidden text we could use on this page, based on the one used on the Adachi and Shimamura page:

Genres should be based on what reliable sources list them as and not on personal interpretations. Limit of the three most relevant genres in accordance with MOS:TVLEAD and WP:WEIGHT.

To make it hidden text, you just put "<!""--" before it, and "-->" (without those quotes, of course) as you probably already know. So far, in terms of genres we can source, we have...
I'm not seeing any sources for calling it "supernatural," "crime," "dramedy" or "animated sitcom." Historyday01 (talk) 18:29, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@User:Mr. Doggy Dog, since you removed some of the genres, I think it would be helpful you weighed in here. Historyday01 (talk) 19:53, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

In my opinion, Helluva Boss is adult animation and musical. I kind of disagree on the black comedy thing, because dark humor is making fun of specifically controversial things, and the only controversial joke that was in Helluva Boss was when Blitzo said the r-word in the pilot (at least, as far as I remember). Blubewwy (talk) 16:30, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Well, the black comedy category is pretty broad, as the article on it says "...the term black comedy is a relatively broad term covering humor relating to many serious subjects." Historyday01 (talk) 18:29, 18 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Citation overkill edit

There is WP:OVERKILL for one sentence. The series follows the employees of I.M.P. (Immediate Murder Professionals), an imp-run assassination company in Hell, on their many different jobs.[11][12][13][14][15]

Please fix it.CycoMa (talk) 17:16, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

It has been fixed. I don't know why you couldn't have just done the notice for that section of the article, instead of every section... but whatever. In any case, I am glad you posted about it here rather than just adding the tag, then declaring that people are supposed to know what you mean. So, I appreciate that. --Historyday01 (talk) 12:47, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Stable list of voice cast edit

I'm not too happy with the voice cast being filled up and I don't think it's necessary to include minor characters or characters who have a secondary voice actor. I wanna say for the main cast, only the primary voices. For the starring roles, only people with Wikipedia pages. Keep the other voice actors in the sub article. Yay or nay? SWinxy (talk) 22:56, 31 July 2022 (UTC) EDIT: We also should figure out the inclusion criteria for the infobox. SWinxy (talk) 22:58, 31 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes. I'd say we should only put voice actors of the protagonists in the infobox, but not other characters. Historyday01 (talk) 23:37, 31 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I'd say that we should just keep the main cast and people with Wikipedia pages. That huge cast list is an eyesore to look at. Blubewwy (talk) 02:36, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Having too many characters (and too many voice actors) doesn't really help anyone and it clutters up the page. Historyday01 (talk) 03:00, 1 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
If there is significant cast turnover, it might be more helpful to list the cast in table form per MOS:TVCAST. Skywatcher68 (talk) 03:47, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sure. Is there an example of that we can use as a model for this page? Historyday01 (talk) 14:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
MOS:TVCAST gives this one: The Killing (American TV series)#Cast. Cheers!   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 15:33, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! That's very helpful. Historyday01 (talk) 15:50, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Episode descriptions getting too long edit

With the release of each new episode, I find the episode descriptions to be getting longer and longer. The most recent one for the episode that was released earlier today is extremely long and is most definitely WP:FANCRUFT. I propose removing the plot descriptions entirely, as since Helluva Boss has yet to actually tell a story whose plot goes beyond a single episode (aside from existing character relationships that don't really change), they don't serve much purpose. If anyone here feels that we should still have at least some of a description for the episodes, I can just cut them down to the very basic information. Blubewwy (talk) 04:02, 21 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Edward Bosco edit

Why are we not allowed to put people with no Wikipedia pages on the cast list, even though the person that I put on there plays the character in Season 2? 173.53.35.177 (talk) 01:18, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

The consensus that was reached regarding this was that voice actors without their own Wikipedia pages are not to be listed in the actual Helluva Boss article. This keeps the article from becoming too fancruft-y, as well as keeps the list from becoming too big for the article. This decision was made because prior to it, every single Helluva Boss voice actor was listed (even those who only voiced one-off background characters), and this list was an eyesore, to put it frankly. Bosco is still listed in the List of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss characters article. Blubewwy (talk) 02:16, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Historyday01: Could an exception be made for Bosco for Striker? Since the way you have it currently implies Striker is not in Season Two at all, when in-reality he is in Season Two more than he was in Season One. 209.151.151.155 (talk) 04:07, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
That isn't implied at all. All that is implied from it is that Reedus voiced Striker in season 1 only. Blubewwy (talk) 12:47, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Considering Bosco is his current voice actor, perhaps have Edward Bosco listed as the actor with a note saying something along the lines of “Norman Reedus voiced the character in season 1.”? FizzleDrunk (talk) 14:59, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wouldn't really make any sense, because per prior consensus, only voice actors with their own Wikipedia pages are to be listed. Blubewwy (talk) 21:53, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
