Portrait edit

We need a portrait for this person. WinterSpw 01:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, we have a picture, now we need one that doesn't look like he just got back from a 4-day drinking binge.  ;) 138.162.128.55 (talk) 09:46, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

genannt edit

It should be noted that the word genannt is a German word meaning "called". Heinrich von Vietinghoff genannt Scheel therefore means that his name is Heinrich von Vietinghoff but sometimes he is called Scheel. MisterBee1966 (talk) 14:56, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's that simple. I don't think he was ever known as Scheel. I think his family name is von Vietinghof genannt Scheel - just like his dad. You can see the derivation for this here. You'll see that the full name is only really used in official documents. 78.146.196.88 (talk) 18:18, 10 December 2008 (UTC). Sorry, forgot I wasn't logged in. No, his full name is Heinrich Gottfried Otto Richard von Vietinghoff genannt Scheel, in German called Genanntname. The first mention of this familyname is 1452: Johann van den Vitinchaven genannt Schele is owner of the castle Schellenberg (sic!).--Knud Klotz (talk) 18:01, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
